Barcelona Gourmet

I came to this outstanding store looking for well priced Yerba Mate, and I did. To my surprise, I found an incredible variety of imported foods beverages and spices from Latin America and Europe (Spain, etc), as well. The owner's name is Sandra and she is a gem. A well travelled individual with excellent views of numerous cultures and plenty to talk about. Sandra has that warm personality we find only when we go on vacation. In her store, Sandra carries vegetarian and meat filled versions of: 'paellas', 'empanadas', 'tamales', etc. and also has other typical plates such as: 'tres leches cakes', 'churros', etc. What Sandra does not have, she can prepare upon request in the days to come, for you. All you have to do is ask. Sandra has also applied for a liquor licence, so we will see what hapens in the future. Everything at the store is carefully arranged, products that require refrigeration are in the fridges. Sandra has a great eye for detail and also checks her food to make sure all is alright on an ongoing basis. During my first visit to this store, I bought a 'Sara' labeled yerba mate which I am thoroughly enjoying, a vegetarian empanada, which I trully enjoyed, and also got 'jalapeños' and 'tomatillos' and as she suggested, make a nice sause, well, it turns out I turned this into a delicious spicy dish with onions, ginger and coriander seeds that tastes delicious. Well, do not let me bore you with my inventive cooking, why not just make it a point to go visit her museum of gourmet food, Located at 777 Danforth, on the South side of the street, and put some goodies in your pantry and fridge, so you can as well have a delightful experience, as I did. Thank you Sandra!

Can’t stop eating the empanadas and churros. Soooo good! Also love their selection on quality produce. They have some pretty rare options for a great price. Super happy I found this place!

This store is so lovely and everything we’ve bought here has been delicious and high quality. We just discovered the empanadas and now we’re hooked, they are SO good. I have yet to try the paella but looking so forward to ordering it soon. The owners and everyone that works there is even better than the food, they’re so kind, warm and welcoming. It’s such a great local gem!

Service is friendly. Prices are high, but that’s expected. The tamale was good, but a punch too salty for me. I’ve had the meat (think it was beef) and ham/cheese empanadas and the beef was okay, but I loved the ham/cheese one! The Catalan cake is decent and always seems soft, fluffy and fresh. I would definitely return.

Found this Spanish & Mexican grocery on Danforth and it’s a gem. They have a variety of paellas for take-out which you need to order a day in advance. But they have an assortment of empanadas and tamales and they are delish. The empanada crust was so light and crispy and the empanada was so flavorful. Deliciosa! This is such a good place to find your ingredients for both Spanish & Mexican dishes and paelleras in all sizes!

Amazing empanadas, extremely flavourful. Great selection of gourmet meats and cheese.

The Jamó Ibérico at Barcelona Gourmet should be listed in every guidebook as a Toronto taste mainstay. I haven't tasted anything this good since I was in Spain.

Love this shop! Always something new to try, and the staff is really nice. They've recommended me a few things already and they're all great.The paella is also amazing, call 2 hours before you need it and it'll be ready. They have a couple different options and two sizes.The empanadas and tamales are also really yummy!

Great variety of European food.Delicious empanadas.Paella is next day order only, which is a shame - we sooo wanted to try.Very friendly staff!

Stopped in here on whim and so glad that I did! What a gem of a spot on the Danforth. Massive selection of import grocery items, delicious empanadas, fun treats, and lovely staff! If you’re in the area, definitely drop in!
