This is not ye olde California roll sushi shop. This is a REAL Japanese sushi experience with a REAL Japanese sushi chef and REAL imported Japanese ingredients. The food will take time to prepare, it won't be in massive quantities, but it will be pure quality.Recommend the omakase experience and going all out with it (requires 2 days' notice). It's basically letting the chef decide your meal with the best stuff he has on hand based on how much you want to spend. Make sure to communicate any preferences or dislikes ahead of time. And DEFINITELY go on a weeknight at the bar so you can talk with the chef (Keith) while he's preparing your food. He has some great stories and can tell you about what he's serving. Weekends are overly busy.I can't say what my favourite thing is because it's all melt-in-your-mouth delicious, from the toro to the salmon to the sea urchin to the mantis shrimp and beyond.Note: The music and decor are not too everyone's liking because the chef is literally a rockstar.

Wow what an amazing omakase experience! It was truly awesome. The sushi here shown was out of this world good! Almost everything he serves is imported over. Chef K gets the freshest fishes available! Set your budget and Chef K will deliver you an omakase experience you'll keep coming back for.

Chef Keith is amazing, his food always blows me away and keeps me coming back every time I'm in the Vancouver area. The Asian nachos are a must! Most fish is delivered fresh from Japan, and he makes up amazing specials weekly, the decor is all heavy metal inspired and music is on the harder side(personally this is a plus) as he's a huge metal fan. Service is great. Wine and beer selection is small but you're not going here for fancy beers it's all about the amazing fish. Prices are higher and you definitely get what you pay for. He sometimes is not open at what would be considered normal times so call ahead of time to make sure also it's not a large place so if you have a large group call to make sure they can accommodate.

Sushi Kamizato delivered an extraordinary omakase experience that left us speechless. From the moment we stepped in, the warm ambiance made me feel welcomed. The curated menu showcased the freshest ingredients, and each dish was a perfect blend of traditional techniques and innovative flavors. The sashimi was a highlight, with impeccably fresh fish that melted in my mouth. The knowledgeable chef and his wife provided excellent service, explaining each dish in detail. The intimate atmosphere allowed for a captivating view of the chef's artistry. Sushi Kamizato exceeded our expectations, leaving us with cherished memories. If you're seeking an exceptional omakase and remarkable sashimi, Sushi Kamizato is an absolute must-visit. Highly recommended!

An authentic and superb omakase experience in the suburbs of PoCo. They import fresh seafood weekly and the menu changes depending on what they get in that week. You have to call in ahead of time to grab a seat but keep in mind that they only take about 5 tables per day.You can tell that the chef is very passionate about his food and it shows in every piece of his sushi. I especially enjoyed engawa - a flat fish that is quite rich and oily - it almost dissolves in your mouth! The bluefin tunas were also exceptional - both o-toro and chu-toro - but I would say that there were no pieces that I disliked throughout the omakase.I can't believe that I only found this gem after living in the lower mainland for over 15 years but I will be coming back in the near future for more amazing sushi. I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants authentic Japanese omakase experience with quality ingredients without travelling all the way to downtown Vancouver.

We have been living in the area more than 10 years and just noticed the Sushi place that is doing omakase. Excellent quality of food with the nice couple. If you like omakase, that’s the must go place in great Vancouver!

Our omakase dinner last night was super tasty! We made the reservation over the phone a week in advance, and the staff kindly asked for the price range we wanted to experience. Although she says their customers usually go for $100-$120 pp, we opted for an $80 pp experience and it was just fine! The omakase was 10 pieces of nigiri, with a miso soup break in the middle. Chef K explained that he imports all the fish he serves directly from Japan, and he also prepares his own soy sauce with different flavours which he puts on the fish. We thought every piece was tasty, different, flavourful, fresh, and at the right temperature! Chef K came over to say his thanks at the end of our experience and served us complimentary plum wine—a sweet way to end the meal! Tbh this place was a bit far and out of my way, but will revisit again on special occasions!

This was one of my best omakase experiences. Chef Keith is a pro and obsesses over serving highest quality fish. He is very creative with is menu and engaging with customers. He explains each piece of sushi and some backstory while serving. Can’t recommend this place enough. You have to book in advance. Worth the price.

Some of the best sashimi and sushi I’ve ever had. Most of everything we had came fresh from Japan. The chef is extremely nice and the atmosphere is not like any other sushi restaurant. Really cool space and awesome music. A must try!

Keith is a master at his craft. His creations are delicious and to me, his restaurant has the best sushi in the lower mainland. Keith and his wife, Chika, are the best hosts. We've been going here for years and the meals never disappoint. You definitely want to try his special menu items and his weekly imported fish from Japan. If his restaurant was downtown, prices would easily be double. Great price point for the quality of food you're receiving.Definitely recommend the aburi toro and tiger's eye! Give this gem in Port Coquitlam a chance - you won't regret it!
