Ordered two mains and was very disappointed. The Sambal beans and prawns had no spice, were bland and the smell was so off putting I couldn’t eat them. Hubbie got the Szechuan beef and broccoli which had no flavour or spice. Both dishes were hot and the veggies were fresh but that’s the only good thing I can say about them.

I have been to the Vancouver banana leaf many times and I expected the same quality of food. I ordered the lamb stew. It was supposed to have a complex taste of cardamon, fennel, cumin and other spices. It tasted like stew from a can. No spice flavours at all. I spoke to the manager and he said the chef wasn't fully trained. He offered me some hot sauce and did not charge me for the tea. I want this restaurant to be successful but I'll be waiting a few months to see if they can get their act together. Not acceptable

I took my family at this location for lunch yesterday. No complains about the service but the food had no taste. Banana Leaf on Broadway is our favorite thus we were excited this opened close to home but quality of food was zero stars. Chicken curry was full of vegetables, hardly any chicken, undercooked and served cold NO FLAVORS. Kung Pao same - hardly any chicken but full of veggies. We definitely WILL NOT BE RETURNING HERE. Waste of monies.

Great experience. I genuinely love Banana Leaf as a chain but I find the quality of their flagship dishes can vary. For this location, their laksa is much more curry based and not as much coconut comparative to other locations. Their mee goreng and char kway teow were up to par! And their Pisang Goreng was awesome. Glad to see they came to south Surrey!

We met friends for a 5pm dinner reservation on their last day opened before closing for a 2 mth renovation.Located in South Point Exchange Centre it’s visible and easily located.Reservations are recommended as it’s busy and not an overly large space.Hopefully the chairs will be upgraded from IMO, patio style chairs with seat pads and a mix of other seating. The food was good and well presented but portions are not large for the price. They offer Happy Hour food and drink specials but upon reviewing our bill for this post I see that we were not charged accordingly for the Hakke Zhar Yoke ($10) instead of $8.Our friends however were charged accordingly for their Lamb Stew w/Carrots ($18) instead of $26, mostly I think because we asked our server while it was ordered.I wasn’t aware our dish qualified so I guess that’s my fault too for not catching it.Service was good and staff are very friendly greeting us when we arrived and saying goodbye/thank you when leaving.Parking is ample.

We have eaten at BL in Kitsilano, and Vancouver many times and always enjoyed very much. We just had our first experience with the new Surrey location and it doesn't come close to what we were expecting, the flavour was bland, more like below average Chinese food, not Malaysian at all.

I would not recommend this restaurant to others.Firstly, the long wait time is certainly frustrating, and it's unfortunate that the restaurant didn't prioritize dining experience. Waiting for an extended period can dampen the mood and make for a less enjoyable meal.Secondly, the food not having much surprise can be disappointing, especially if you were expecting something unique or exciting. It's important for restaurants to have a diverse and interesting menu that keeps customers coming back for more.Thirdly, the prices being too high for the quality of food and service is definitely a letdown. Customers expect to get what they pay for, and when the prices don't match the experience, it can feel like a waste of money.Lastly, it's unacceptable for the waiters not to pour water for their customers. This is a basic part of service, and it's concerning that they weren't attentive enough to do so.Overall, I would suggest finding a different restaurant that values its customers' time and money, with a more diverse and exciting menu and attentive service.

As I work downtown I’m a regular at Banana Leaf Broadway and love the food there. I was over the top excited to see this restaurant open across the street from the busy South Point Cactus. I don’t think the restaurant is fully established yet, staff mentioned waiting for a permit. I dropped in but place was super busy and fully booked so I attempted take-out and was told it was at least an hour wait. Not deterred I ordered by phone the next day. I ordered my usual downtown favourites. Although I very much enjoyed the food I do have to agree with other posters who found portions “small and expensive”. Certainly pales compared to Broadway. This could be a badly needed new Malaysian restaurant for South Surrey but at this time needs fine tuning. I’ll give it another go at another visit and dine in. But for now I’ll continue to bring home take- out home from the downtown store.

Wow honestly so good. I've been to their other locations and this one is definitely on par with them. Portions could be bigger for what you pay, but the flavour is amazing. Meat is so tender and veggies crisp and fresh. Deliciously spiced and cooked to perfection. I would definitely go back.

The food was amazing. So much flavor. It is misleading as you walk in as it's not a super cozy type of setting but once the food comes your taste buds with thank you. We did a 7 Course Dine out Vancouver deal and every course was delicious. Definitely check this place out if you are a foody or want some amazing food.
