I was very excited to find TJB online. The rates posted online seemed very reasonable -$85 minimum and since my stuff was barely much of anything I called and got an immediate appointment for the next day between 2-4pm. At 3:30 I called them to make sure I hadn’t missed them some how because they call 20-30mins ahead and I hadn’t heard anything. The office assured me they were still coming but we’re running a bit behind and would arrive closer to 4-5pm.At 4:20 the guys called to give me an ETA. Apparently they were just leaving onejob and had another to do before coming to me. They estimated an hour to an hour and a half.At 6:50pm they called to say they were on their way and GPS said they were 30mins from my place.They arrived at 7:55 as I was calling them to find out if they had gotten lost. Nope they were here. We put one of the items in the hall and showed them the BBQ and two Tupperware bins. They wanted $235+ tax. A HUGE difference from $85. Because apparently each city has a minimum fee? That should definitely be listed on the website. I was told that’s what the asterisk is for. So I told them I would not be using their services and while one of the guys was cool about it, the other just started laughing as if this was some joke on THEM. I blew the entire day waiting around for them to arrive - 4-6 hours later than they were supposed to be here, to pick up what’s in the photo. If I had access to a truck I could do it myself but I don’t. And $235 for this? It’s ridiculous. Hell, $85 was too much but it was at least reasonable. This was a bait and switch. The prices on the website should let people know there are minimums according to each city. It also could have been explained over the phone when I gave my address and the woman in the office confirmed the city. To NOT do this is poor customer care and just bad business. I will NOT be recommending them to anyone. Not after this. A better practice would have been to offer a discount after showing up at 8pm instead of between 2-4 as I had been scheduled.** EDIT **It was very nice of the company to reply to my negative review after posting 8 false 5* reviews all under the same first name all at the exact same time. It was very good of them to update the website with new prices and information. The prices listed and information on the site were completely different than they are now - which just proves they’re not as honest as they claim to be. I inquired about the $85 minimum fee with the workers on Tuesday when they arrived and they told me that fee didn’t apply to my location. I said that should be listed on the website and was told “that’s what the asterisk is for, it says to ask.” So as of Tuesday July 4 the information was completely different than they are now. A more honest company would have replied saying they’ve updated the site and information instead of trying to gaslight the person commenting. This is NOT an honest company. Other people have reported the same behavior on Google and to the Better Business Bureau. It’s standard practice apparently. How disappointing.
