We chose Hakai because they were local and had been around for awhile - and I'm so glad we did. They installed our solar panels, but more than that, they helped us with a long-term plan for eventually being fully self-sufficient. My experience with Hakai has been very positive. Starting with discussions in April of this year and completion in August, the planning and installation of our 25 panel, 9.75 kW residential rooftop system on one of the British Columbia Gulf Islands was smooth and trouble-free. It took only 9 days from the start of installation to BC Hydro approval and activation of the system, which was very gratifying. Nick who provided advice and an installation plan, and the installation crew themselves, were entirely accessible, helpful, and informative. All were clearly expert at what they do. I was particularly pleased with the interaction with BC Hydro that Hakai took care of -- it was quick and effective and the connection was approved much faster and more easily than I anticipated. Hakai was also very helpful in providing guidance for me to apply to Greener Homes Canada for relevant grants/loans (but be prepared for an extended bureaucratic process with that government agency... ours is ongoing and patience is an asset!). The panels are now pumping out power in a very satisfying way. It will be very interesting to see how much of our power use is offset but I am already convinced that installing the panels and working with Hakai was the right decision.

I was very impressed with the Hakai team. They were responsive and professional at all levels. They walked me through the entire process so it was really quite easy and efficient to get the system installed including permitting and Canada greener homes grants/loan. The installation team was great too - very easy to deal with and they did a fantastic job on my array. Highly recommended.

Highly recommended!Hakai installed solar panels on our roof and also installed a new electrical panel for us (an optional upgrade for future needs). We had a great experience with this company from start to finish. Everyone on the team is knowledgeable, responsive, and professional. They're also just very nice humans.Their crews showed up on time, worked hard, cleaned up after themselves daily, and took time to explain to us (and random curious neighbours with questions ) what they were doing.
