Black Mountain Veterinary Hospital

After having been with our previous vet for 9 years, switching vets was a bit scary, but I am so, so happy we gave Black Mountain Veterinary Hospital a try. Dr Cook and the entire staff have been amazing. The whole vibe at this clinic is just different. It is such a calm and friendly atmosphere and the prices are good. Dr Cook is proactive, but sensible. She very clearly explains the options and why she recommends the course of treatment that she does, without applying any pressure. But perhaps the biggest recommendation comes from my dog. My dog has always been very afraid of going to the vet. He hasn't had a bad experience, he has just always disliked it and been very afraid. We have visited Black Mountain Veterinary Hospital numerous times now and each time, my dog has willingly gone in, tail up and wagging. If that isn't a glowing recommendation, I don't know what is! It has been wonderful to see my dog far more relaxed that he has ever been seeing a vet and it is no longer a highly stressful event. If you are in need of a vet, I cannot recommend Dr Cook and her team at Black Mountain Veterinary Hospital enough. A shout out to Jay and Kyla who do the laser treatment therapy as well. They are amazing and made each treatment a happy and enjoyable time. Thank you!!

My wife and I had a great experience with Dr Cook. We brought our Fox Terrier Tosha in to see her for the first time and we couldn't have been happier with our appointment. She really took the time to answer all of our questions and she was not rushed at all. We were very grateful for how thorough the appointment was and we felt like she really cared about the dog. We definitely recommend seeing Dr Cook at black mountain vet. The whole team including the vet assistant and receptionist were all very friendly and welcoming!Jeff

I cannot say enough about the positive experience we had recently with Dr. Cook when unfortunately we had to euthanize our beloved cat, Burt. Previously we had been clients of Dr. Kular who owned the practice prior to his recent death. Dr. Cook took the time to explain our cat's diabetes and was unbelievably gentle with him and us throughout the entire process. She is an amazingly caring individual who made the terrible situation less so. If I could give her more than 5 stars I would not hesitate to do so.

This review is a little late but I saw a post online asking for veterinary referrals and I immediately thought of BMVH.I brought my cat Duncan in because he had an infected chin from roaming outdoors. The doctor did what was needed and didn’t try to sell us on anything more. I really appreciated her honesty and professionalism. She was gentle and kind and this will 100% be my new vet office! Thank you!

Finding a vet that's the right fit for you can be challenging. I have lived in Kelowna for over two years and in that time have tried 4 different vets. I drive all the way from West Kelowna to black mountain to see Dr. Cook. She is fair, smart, experienced, and has the intuition to match her knowledge (which is important when working with animals). You can tell that they really care about you and your pet here. Highly recommend! And very greatful for the staff here.

My cat tore a muscle in his leg and was almost immobile. This was the 4th vet I visited, and no one else could tell me the issue. They just kept prescribing drugs.The vet at Black Mountain was very knowledable, and diagnosed the issue in one visit just by touching the cat. They started treatment immediately and within about a week my cat was so healthy that I can barely control him.No drugs needed, no unecessary and costly diognosis processes, and the treatment price was very reasonable. They were also very attentive to making my cat as comfortable as a cat can be at the vet.

I highly recommend Dr Cook and her great staff! I was petsitting a cat and had to find a vet that could take him in that day, when their original vet could only fit him in in a few days time. After calling multiple places and getting nowhere, I found Black Mountain vet and I’m so glad I did.They took great care of Merlin, was in contact with myself and the owner (who was on vacation) every step of the way and were very affordable.I even ended up referring my boyfriend here when his cat got sick the next week and Dr Cook and her staff continued to impress me with their care. Highly recommend this vet.

I am SO pleased with the service I received from Black Mountain Veterinary Clinic today. I do not usually leave reviews but I know how hard it can be to find an honest and reliable vet and I am confident I found on today. After struggling with a different vet clinic over a bump my dog had developed about 8 months ago I was finally at ease today when Dr. Cook tested it, gave me results, and gave me several options on what to do moving forward within our short visit. To top it off, my dog was the happiest he has ever been leaving the vet due to their patience with him. Cannot recommend enough!

Long winded RAVE here...Our regular vet was closed between the holidays, they were open and I have to say, this vet, and everyone in office is amazing. Our very senior cat was very very sick, we knew we had to do the right thing and take him to the rainbow Bridge and it would have been inhumane to make him wait 1 more day. They fit us in same day, were very kind, empathetic and made a very upsetting situation bareable. I didn't get the vets name as I was upset and had 2 kids to console. My husband was in the room and said the vet was very kind, explained everything and we walked out knowing he was in good hands to be handed over to the pet crematorium. When we picked up Zero's ashes not only did they all sign a card for us they made us a print of his paw and some fur in a keepsake box (we arent even regular clients of this office either). The thoughtfulness was beyond what we experienced anywhere else. Needless to say looks like this is out new veterinary clinic for our dogs now.

My dog got hurt and was unable to move very well, as she got worse I started calling vets and black mountain was able to get us in within an hour. We arrived and were seen within 5 minutes. The vet and the vet techs were very thorough and made sure to diagnose the problem properly. After we left they called us in the evening and then the next morning to check in and answer any questions we had. My dog is doing much better now and I'm so thankful to the doctors and staff at black mountain. I will definitely be making this our regular vet.
