Finally tried Joloff rice for the first time! Akin's did not disappoint. It was delicious! The meat had a small serving, not sure if that's how it really is served. Staff are okay. A welcoming smile would be appreciated but they were still courteous. The place is clean, bright and cool in the summer.

The fried rice was very bland. Not bad just incredibly bland . The chicken was the one redeeming factor hence the second star.

Akin's is great, it's exactly the African restaurant I've been looking for. The portions are huge and filling, and the food is actually delicious. I had the asun and the jollof and it was almost too much food. Definitely one to go when you're hungry. Although having said that ,I didn't like the asun as much as I thought I would. I'm going to try the suya next time. It's not very big in there so you might struggle if you have a huge group, but if you can fit them in you won't be disappointed.

The owner and employees are rude. The food I ordered was terrible and they add tips to your bill and tell you it is compulsory to give tips. If you decide to dine in, pay extra attention to your bill as there are hidden charges. I will not be visiting this restaurant again

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS RESTAURANT… This is the worst restaurant in Winnipeg. I ordered okra soup and they sent me spinach soup, not a single okra in sight. Terrible customer service too

This was the worst food I have ever had. Our work team enjoys the authentic foods of the west end. We have our business lunches throughout the area. This place was a major failure. The host was very rude. Told co-worker he looked mean and unhappy? What was that? Food was cold and stale tasting. We would never return and we don't recommend it. We felt so unwelcome. Too bad. Feast Africa is better.

My partner and I went for dinner. We grew up eating this type of cuisine so we were familiar with the menu items. I was looking forward to eating akara, the first item on the menu. But, it was not available and I was told it was going to be removed from the menu. They were also out of beef meat pie. I tried the chicken meat pie instead, it was...okay. You could tell it was reheated in a microwave, the pastry was no longer flaky, it had very little chicken in it, which had an uninteresting seasoning to it. The turn around however, was with our main dish, jollof rice with plantain and beef. Great serving size, served hot, and the flavors were delicious, similar to what we expected. I prefer plantain to be a bit more ripe before they're fried, but it was still good. The beef was flavourful and tender, with a delicious sauce. There was a hint of spicy, which was fine for me. My partner prefers food much spicer but he still enjoyed his meal. I was thrilled that they have the original Fanta orange here (not the North American version thank goodness!). The restaurant looked clean, the server was pleasant and the food was served in a timely manner. We'll be back for sure!

Good food reflective of our heritage. Nicely cooked food, neat and friendly staff, nice location too. The Ewa Agoyin plus bread is my best.
