As an event planner, I referred a lot of clients to Daniel at Alter Ego Tailoring. He made each client's experience very memorable and he does a fantastic job. Looking for a wedding dress alteration, or your day-to-day clothing. See Daniel, he will not disappoint!5+ stars!

Had some work done on my wedding dress. I tried to call 3 different times to move an appointment and never heard back even though the voicemail said they would get back in 24hrs. The work was done great, a few things were missed at the time of pick up but he fixed them on the spot which was appreciated. I would definitely get a quote in writing though. I was told at most I would pay $300 if it was a resizing which it wasnt, but with the work I needed it would be way less". I went to pick up and it ended up being $345. Where I wasnt expecting this it was very upsetting. Like I said would recommend for the work that was done but clarify the price first if that is a concern."

Amazing job taking in my wedding dress over multiple weeks as I lost weight. Was $100+ less then David's bridal who was hesitant on doing it because of the amount of weight I lost. Also altered 3 of my bridesmaids dresses for a very reasonable price!

Didn’t use but interacted with their Instagram page which the owner used to promote homophobia. Disgusted and if the other reviews are any indication, a place that doesn’t deserve to be supported. Note that their online bullying was from their BUSINESS account.

Was waiting to pick up a piece with my baby. Guy looked at me and before saying hi or asking what I needed, told me I couldn't come in with my stroller because strollers don't do well with this kind of stuff". I let him know I wasn't trying to enter

Best experience I've ever had getting something tailored. Not only is Daniel amazing at what he does but he's an awesome person and the prices are awesome. I've had some bad experiences in the past having bridesmaids dresses altered but with Daniel is was quick, easy and so well done. I can't say how happy I am will the work he did and I would recommend everyone to go there.

I don't usually post reviews but felt compelled to do so in this instance. Save yourself a lot of aggravation, stress, time, and money and find another tailor other than Alter Ego Tailors (Mr. Daniel Royale).I bought my wedding dress off the rack - it was a size 10 but I needed a size two. The boutique where I purchased the gown recommended Alter Ego/Mr. Royale as a 'wedding dress specialist tailor'. His shop is located on the backside of the Doyle building directly across the street from the new library on Spring Garden Road.From the beginning, I did not get a good feeling about the shop/tailor. I should have listened to my gut and left with my dress after the initial consultation.Mr. Royale promised a lot but didn't deliver. In my opinion, he was forgetful, unfocussed, distracted, didn't listen, and seemed to be perpetually rushed/in a hurry.I'm not sure if the issue is lack of skill, lack of attention to detail, not listening, not taking proper notes, or taking on too many clients, but I suspect it's a combination of all those things. In a nutshell, he basically butchered my dress. My dress required a number of various alterations to make it fit properly and make it the way I wanted. Mr. Royale assured me he was up to the task but fell well short of the mark.After multiple appointments and alterations, I ended up paying almost three hundred dollars for an ill-fitting, too long dress (among several other issues) that, sadly, I was not looking forward to wearing on my wedding day.Mr. Royale only accepts cash and gave me a generic receipt that did not bear the name of his shop; a practice that to me, seems rather sketchy. What reputable business these days doesn't accept debit/credit? Why wouldn't you want the name of your business to appear on the receipts you issue to customers? I can't help but wonder what Revenue Canada thinks of this practice.After my disastrous experience with Alter Ego Tailors (Daniel Royale), I took my dress to another tailor and spent $225 to have my gown properly altered, fitted and fixed. Lesson learned (unfortunately) the hard way.

The most unprofessional, rude, and disorganized tailor I have ever been to. This man has arguably ruined my sister’s wedding as she cannot even wear her dress anymore. The place was also dirty, ONLY takes cash and doesn’t tell you before hand. He also quoted us at 180$ and ended up charging 350$ and didn’t call to inform of the price change… The worst part, he absolutely BUTCHERED my sister’s dress. He claims that he did not take in the waist, but most definitely did as the dress does not even do up anymore. This dress fit my sister fine in the waist at the first appointment, but the man basically told her to not gain any weight. In the last 6 months, my sister has even lost EIGHT pounds and now the dress somehow does not even do up!!!! His excuse was that she was probably just on her period!!! Talk about a misogynistic…. He also ruined one of the straps as the threads all came apart and the small beads are falling off. He was also way behind schedule and now it is weeks before her wedding and she is scrambling to find a cheap dress to wear instead.** update: we took the dress to a different place and discovered that he did in fact take in the dress over 3 inches and tried to hide it but sewing a layer over top of his horrible sew lines. The wonderful lady we went to instead was able to fix the dress within a day even though this dude said that there’s nothing to do and accused my sister of getting fat and/or being on her period.

The owner of this business bullies people online. That behaviour is disgusting and unacceptable so I won’t be supporting this business.
