An excellent flight school with a very well maintained fleet, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Completed all my licences here, and enjoyed every bit of it. Would highly recommend Cooking Lake Aviation to anyone who's interested in fulfilling their dream of soaring the skies.

Cooking Lake Aviation Academy has been helping me follow my dream of becoming a Private Pilot. The ground School Instructor, Dean, is a great teacher. The lessons were fast paced and packed with information. He draws from years of experience. The flight instructors are patient and knowledgeable and reassuring. Becoming a pilot is a lot of work and a big time commitment but these people are committed to keep you going.

I had the pleasure to fly with and train at this flight school, in my opinion its one of the best places to get your pilot license. The instructors are very friendly and accommodating to your comfort and skill level, and the aircraft are quite new and perfectly maintained. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.Training here is definitely worth your time and money!

I took my PPL ground school with Dean Hardman. I found Dean very knowledgeable on all subjects and he was always there to answer any questions or to offer extra help with anything a person was struggling with. I would recommend Dean and the Cooking Lake Ground school to anyone thinking of taking their pilots license.

The best flight school I have attended in Canada! Most welcoming environment and professional atmosphere striving for safety! Very important in aviation. People complain about checkouts every 6months, pure stupidity to complain in my opinion. A checkout is vital. If a pilot has not been active for 6months I certainly would not give my aircraft to him to fly!Instructors and CFI are very respectful and always help. They go the extra mile! A night endorsement was needed for myself, my instructor worked patiently until 2-3am on two occasions and we got it done in 2 days! Other schools take weeks for a simple endorsement!Please please visit this school! This school needs to get bigger and bigger, rest of the schools in Calgary need to be shutdown as they are the exact opposite!

Regarding in person PPL Ground School: Dean is a fantastic instructor who worked hard to revamp the course outline and material. Everything was organized and well thought out. Dean is highly knowledgeable and is able to walk you through complex lessons and answer any questions you may have. Definitely recommend.

Excellent flight school, did all my training from Private all the way to Commercial, Multi and IFR. Aircraft are extremely well kept, rates are very reasonable and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Thanks to the wealth of knowledge I gained here I'm now flying commercially and loving it! Even if you're not interested in a career, this is still a great place to go for a joyride around Edmonton.

Cooking Lake Aviation is a great flight school for anyone looking to start their pilot training, looking to do recurrent training, or just go for a discovery flight around Edmonton! They have one of the most modern fleet of aircraft in Western Canada with Garmin 1000 glass cockpits in most of their Cessna 172 aircraft and a newly upgraded glass cockpit in their twin engine aircraft trainer. The staff and flight instructors are very personable and professional. The school has good vibes all around, nothing but positive comments from myself who finished their Commercial Pilot License, Multi Engine Rating and Instrument Rating at the school! Thanks to the wonderful people at Cooking Lake Aviation, I am now flying for a career.

I did my private pilot training at Cooking Lake Aviation and am just starting my commercial license training now. My experience there has been fantastic. I wouldn’t change a thing about it. The atmosphere is positive, fun, and supportive and the instructors are so patient and helpful. They have beautiful planes, too. I highly recommend it!
