Kelly Funeral Home - Walkley Chapel

We were extremely disappointed with Kelly's Walkley. There were numerous errors made and there was a serious lack of customer service. Although the website states that they are open 24/hrs, they are not. We went to drop something off at 5:30pm and they were closed. We were passed from one funeral director to another with very little coordination of care. They also did not apologize for any mistakes that were made or try to offer any sort of compensation.It made an incredibly difficult time even more difficult.

The help provided at a very difficult time was excellent. All details were managed professionally and our many questions were answered in a way that made me feel at ease and well taken care of. I recommend the Walkley Chapel for their high level of service and personal attention. Thank you to the whole team for your help and empathy.

Small intimate space, and very classy as well. Excellent layout of rooms that allow for privacy as well as room to gather.The one knock is the parking. It is very limited. Come early or park at the nearby arena.

Kelly’s Funeral Home is unique in its incompetence in that their mistakes have lasting (eternal) consequences. After telling one of their directors that one of our two cremation boxes was to be sealed while the one would not be sealed, they proceeded to seal both and ruin a family antique, along with plans to scatter part of my father’s ashes—without so much as an apology! They earned one star instead of none as their financial counselling services were helpful and their catering was good. All in all, you’re better off throwing your approximately $12,000.00 in the toilet rather than handing it over to these buffoons.

My mother's death was expected but it was sudden. She died at home. You're watching a football game on a Saturday night and 10 minutes later your home is filled with EMS personnel. Sudden like that !My mother had prearranged her funeral with Kelly's on Walkley Rd. so I called them for help. Two attendants arrived an hour later to take Mom into Kelly's care. They were not actual Kelly employees. It was not a good experience. Things were said by the attendants...in house stuff...trade craft tricks...things that should never be voiced out loud in front of someone whose mother is lying dead in her bed. It was unnerving. Kelly's GM was unnerved as well when I told him. He said he'd look after it and I believed him.We went to Kelly's on Christmas Eve to finalize her arrangements. There were some administrative hiccups, more than two actually, but each was dealt with to our intellectual satisfaction...our emotions, however, were still a little tangled and therefore, perhaps, a little less forgiving.What made things easier is that Mom had prearranged and prepaid her funeral. We did not have the added stress of having to make 50 or so decisions, late in the afternoon, on Christmas Eve.The Friday evening visitation went well. Kelly's support staff were kind and gracious. The facilities were top notch and the video display montage comprised of about 50 or so family pictures, put together by our funeral director Angela. was classy and thoughtful...not the work of an amateur.Saturday was the day of her funeral and it was a very emotional day. On the way to Resurrection of Our Lord Church, the cortege slowed to a crawl near Mom's apartment so that I could wave to a neighbour of hers who was unable to attend. That was very, very classy of Angela and the rest of the staff at Kelly's. The funeral cars were spotless and the attending support staff were very professional. I'll never forget that day.Do yourself a favour and prearrange your funeral and, if you have the means, go ahead and prepay it as well. Those who are left behind to look after you when you pass on will be thankful for your consideration.
