Going into this location was one of the WORST experiences I’ve ever had while trying to sell items of clothing.I set out in my day, to give back to the Durham community by selling ~25 items of clothing, and was very disappointed and frustrated due to the fact the shoppers for Plato’s Closet Pickering denied EVERY single one of the items. The items I brought in were 100% unused and each of them still had ALL retail tags attached. Brands ranged from Abercrombie, Arie and The Gap. Every item was denied, because one out of the two bags I brought, had small flakes of an onion peel in the bottom of the bag. (Due to the fact I used a reusable grocery bag to carry the clothes into the store.) I can confidentially understand how that issue isn’t ideal - however denying ALL items in BOTH bags was very puzzling, as a customer.I haven’t been to a Plato’s Closet in about 10 years, and was excited to bring these clothes in as I remember being a young girl shopping at Plato’s and being so excited when I found items from stores I loved, with tags on for a good price. I wanted to give back to my community, now that I am in a place in life to sell UNUSED clothes for hopefully other young girls to be excited about.Plato’s Closet, especially this Pickering location - is an unfortunate place of business, and needs to consider updating policies to allow for UNUSED clothes WITH tags to be accepted.

I like this store but prices are getting out of hand for branded items. For example, lululemon items cost about $40 here and these items are clearly very used and pilled, But the prices are so high. It’s actually about the same at lululemon in their “we made too much”. Thus, the store is charging way more for what the item is worth and based on the condition. All for a brand. If it looked in good shape I understand but they look very used

First time selling clothes here and was very disappointed. I came in with 3 medium sized boxes full of clothes. Lots of jeans that were in style and in good conditions, crop tops, and some sweaters. All of the items were what teens would wear. Lots of brands like Roots, Brandy Melville, H&M, Forever 21, Zara. Out of the 3 boxes they only took 3 items and offered me $7. Said the clothes were out of style. And it looked like they didn't even look through all the boxes.

My first experience with this location and I understand why the reviews are so low. You cannot have a man in his 50’s telling you what teens wear. The stuff I brought in was worn maybe once , from guess, bebe, fashion nova and the man picked out the oldest cheapest dresses I had and told me this is what teens like. So ridiculous. I went to another location where they accepted all the other clothing.

Read the reviews before you visit this location. There's a lot of truth it. If you want more money for your items. Go to the other locations. Wait times can be longer as well. I was promised 1 hour and had to wait 2 hours. The clothes aren't that nice either. They look old.

I popped in the store and the first thing I noticed was how well organized and spacious it was. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

I’ve sold to Platos around the GTA countless times and thought I’d give the Pickering one a try. Out of the 11 items I brought in, they took 0. I then brought the same items to the Markham location and they took 7 out of the 11. Kinda ironic that they’re so selective with their items, but the inventory selection is worse than any other Plato’s I’ve been to. Most of the workers are kind with the exception of the owner who has an attitude. Maybe you should evaluate all of these recent 1 star reviews take it as some feedback on how to improve your business in the future. Truly haven’t had any issues with buying or selling to Plato’s until I came to this location.

I was told they don't take anything older than two years. Then out of 15 ish items, they said they can only take one. The one they chose was 5 years old at least. So something isn't right...So as I understand the owner's response, this location is mostly geared towards teens. Wish I had known that before somehow. Maybe post the rules on the website or at the store so people are not frustrated by the time they spent trying to sell their items. It seems it's not just me but many people experience what I experienced at the store. Maybe train the employees to explain this to the customers better. Just my suggestion as a customer.Tht store did look clean and organized. Just that selling experience did not meet expectations at all. It could be improved by a mile.

I couldn't believe the prices and quality of thing I saw. I'd advise you visit but have it at the back of your mind that you'd be amazed.
