Decent selection in the caf. Lots of places to eat, study and hang. Laundry can also be found here. The front desk is open 24 hours which is super helpful and they have board games that you can borrow. Also there is a tech help desk that will help you with any technology problems. They also give out ethernet cables.

V1 is pretty much a labyrinth with buildings packed with rooms. The walkway can only fit one person at a time, and the rooms themselves are frankly quite small. While the furniture provided are decent, they're also worn down. All of this for an exorbitant price.

Perfect undergraduate residence, a restaurant, games and seating area. The front and IT desks are helpful.

Good place for Waterloo students to live if they're serious about doing well in school. Was definitely worth the cost for our son.

While I have reviewed it as 4 stars, keep in mind that this is extremely subjective. While the staff and residence dons were kind and helpful, your experience depends highly on the people on your floor. The wall are not very thick, and as such you will likely hear any noise above a low to moderate speaking level. The rooms are small as is to be expected, with the only major complaint being that the shutters are pretty useless and that the heater breaks if you turn it to low though. The repair man was very pleasant to talk to like all the staff. To conclude this long review, if you are an extrovert or don't mind the chance of noisy neighbors, its not a bad place to live. (Also, geese can make for an unusual but effective alarm clock).

Pros: Close distance to all the teaching buildings and generally decent selections of food (better than any other food courts on campus in my opinion) entertainment.Cons: Mandatory meal plan, bathroom could be crowded, extremely thin wall which makes it painful to live with someone noisy next door. For people who wants more freedom and independence, I'd suggest living in UWP (if you can find some decent roommates) or off-campus.

A great place to live in. But choose suite style housing if you want more freedom of food.

It looks like the backrooms but it's a good lower-end student residence

I’m so happy to live in V1! The facilities are a bit old which is the only downside but the proximity to campus and meal plan is very convenient.
