Came here with some friends to try something new. To our surprise, not only was the food authentic and true to its Malay/Indonesian roots, but everything we ordered was incredibly flavourful. The spicy curries and rendang that we had were awesome!The owner (Margaret) was a lovely host, and super informative on the dishes! Unfortunately, this is their last year of business. Highly recommend coming here before they close down (to retire in peace) in December.

I really enjoyed the Mee Goreng and spring roll from here. The flavour was amazing and the portion size was incredible for the affordable price. They provide a really awesome hot sauce to go with the food to kick up the heat. Will definitely be coming back!

As Malaysians, my family and I have been wanting to try this place out for the longest time. And as Malaysians, we were NOT disappointed! Quaint and cozy interior that represents Malaysian culture, definitely perfect for a casual night out.Yes, I agree with the majority that the Mee Goreng is very good and deserves the hype it gets. However, if you’re looking for more of a flat noodle style dish that will satisfy your tastebuds, the Kueh Tiao Goreng absolutely took me by surprise. I would come here every night to order it if I could. Another essential that I have to mention is the Ice Kacang for dessert. Trust me when I say this is a dessert that everyone must try once from Chahaya Malaysia. Just the right amount of sweetness, complimented by red beans, little sprinkle of cashews and more….impossible to not enjoy.P.S: my parents favourite dish was the rendang.

A fellow Malaysian in Toronto had recommended me to visit Chahaya since they are one of the original Malaysian restaurants in Canada. Missing Malaysian food, I came for a visit with someone who’s never had Malaysian cuisine before.I was absolutely blown away. Margaret gave us a great history lesson of the place and the food, and I’m so amazed by Budi’s fantastic cuisine that reminds me of home. The lamb satay was to die for and the Rojak was a great complimentary salad. The roti canai paired with the fish curry was exquisite. Reminded me of my college days eating by the mamak stalls. The beef rendang with rice was just the right amount of spice and we were both sweating buckets!The mee goreng was scrumptious and needless to say, we had to bring leftovers home.It was so amazing, that some nasi lemak was pre-ordered and looking forward to trying that too!Thank you for a lovely culinary experience and for serving such well home cooked Malaysian food. Can’t wait to stop by again!

Some of the best food I've eaten a long time. I'd never eaten Malaysian good prior to this visit. The food was so carefully prepared and flavourful. The spice levels were just right and best of all we felt fantastic afterwards. We got a second meal to eat the day following . Will definitely repeat! Also our server was wonderfully attentive and knowledgeable.

The food and service was top notch. We had spring rolls, satay chicken, tom yam soup, hearty chicken soup, Javanese fried chicken, chef special chicken and rice, and egg in tomato sauce. Every single thing was delicious and made fresh, kids enjoyed it too. The lady serving was caring and informative, she gave great suggestions. Great gem of a place!

All the dishes we tried were okay. The quality and quantity does not match the high prices. Dishes do not come with rice, charging $3 for a bowl of rice is absurd. Most people will order rice anyways, just bake it into the dish's price.Lamb skewers 5/10 - overcooked and dry, not much flavor. Do not recommend.Indonesian beef Curry 7/10 - curry was aromatic and definitely a good medium hot. Beef was overcooked and dry.Chef's jumbo shrimp special 7/10 - the flavor of this dish was pretty nice. Can't really say the shrimp were jumbo. Sauce was plentiful. Shrimp was cooked perfectly.Overall would not return to this restaurant. Price does not justify their quality and quantity.
