Have heard a lot of my friends raving about this place so I've been wanting to go for a while. I have to say that Ramen Isshin definitely lived up to the hype! I can see why even a professional NBA player like Yuta Watanabe chose to eat here!My friend and I did not place a reservation beforehand, so we had to enter a queue before we were seated and fortunately didn't have to wait too long before we got a table, which was quite surprising for a Friday night!Service was super quick, and the staff were very attentive to our needs, checking in every so often to see how we were doing.I ordered the white Sesame shio, while my friend ordered the small ķarage don. I personally am not a big fan of soup broth, but I couldn't get enough of this Raven's broth. The flavours of the white Sesame shio were all really well-balanced, it had a slight nuttiness from the sesame seeds, was not too salty, and the level of umami was just right. You could tell they used fresh quality ingredients in their ramen too. I tried a bit of my friend's karaage and throughly enjoyed it as well. The outside was nice and crispy, while not too oily, while the chicken inside was soft, fresh and juicy. The mix of toppings and sauces that were sprinked and drizzled on top also complimented the pieces of karaage, and the flavours all went really well together. The price is what you'd expect from a ramen restaurant in downtown Toronto, but is a great value for the quality you get.Although one thing to note, is that the space is a bit tight so I wouldn't recommend bringing a big group here. I would say eating with 2-3 other people would be ideal.

Been here twice and enjoyed Ramen Isshin both times. Their broths are flavourful and their egg is consistently cooked to that gooey goodness centre.Having tried 4 of their menu options (thanks to my date sharing with me), my favourites are the White Sesame Shio and their seasonal special ramen with the shrimp.Of note, the White Sesame Shio is served with a mini mortar & pestle for guests to freshly grind their serving of sesame into their ramen

This place is so good!!!!! One of the best veggie ramens I’ve had. So flavourful even though I just got the miso base. Noodles were perfect

I get it now. I get the hype. This spot was really really good! The broth of the soup was by far superior to other spots - so flavourful and creamy! The char siu was also probably my favourite that I’ve had! Thin and buttery and just kind of melts in your mouth. I think I’ve had better noodles, but these were still really good! Overall will 100% be back to try the other ramen flavours they have!

The best ramen I've ever tried in Toronto. The broth was smooth texture and rich in flavor. Portion is really big, but piece of chashu pork is small and thin. The place is often crowded and loudly, so you can eat and sit here just for one hour.

I've tried multiple places from dead bottom Kinston, ajisen, to great places like sansotei (for a chain) raijin etc and these guys have become my new favourite for downtown bowls. It's surprisingly deep, rich and delicious. The spicy ramen aren't as spicy as I'd like them to be but they still are amazing.

The ramen and the chicken Karaage was absolutely delicious. I tried the spicy red miso and the white sesame which was better than the other in my opinion. The staff and service was excellent. The location is a little small and the space feels a little tight but the ramen is very good and the portions are huge.

One of the best ramen joint in Toronto, IMHO. The Queen St branch is smaller than the College St one, so it may feel cramped, but it did produce the same feeling as eating ramen in one of those small joints in Tokyo, with plenty of counter seatings set against the wall.My favourite items to order were the garlic shio ramen (strong garlic flavour!) and the tsukemen. The tsukemen came with a bowl of bubbling ramen broth into which you dip the fresh ramen prior to eating. It's a fun way to enjoy the food. The chicken karaage was great as well, but came in huge chunks, so keep that in mind if you're thinking about sharing. One of our friends ordered the red dragon ramen (said to be spicy), but I found it to be mild in the spice level, so if you like spicy you may be disappointed. But if you stick with the usual items, you'd find that Ramen Isshin is a strong contender for the best Japanese ramen joint in Toronto.
