Standard Auto Wreckers

I still think Standard is a great business, but I am sad that they closed their UPIC yard in Ottawa. I had been hunting for parts on that site for nearly 50 years.

Don't bother, you can't go to the yard anymore... they ask you to drive 6 hours to go to their open yard in Scarborough.There's a big yard in Cornwall ON, with a well designed inventory on their website.

Sewells Rd Upick locationFirst there is NO parking lot. None, only street parking on a fairly busy road with a one hour city time limit. You will be walking a good distance to access the yard. The yard is a mess, only one main aisle is clear so using a wheel barrow or cart is not easy.Inventory posted on the website is NOT up to date. Cars are not all up off the ground and rows are not well laid out. Some cars are unable to open the doors they are so poorly organized no space around them. This is the worst u pull yard I have ever visited in Canada or the USA for organization. A complete mess and dangerous with tripping hazards and spills. Not kidding.The good, prices are fair and staff is easy to deal with and very very good with billing unlike the competition that charge for every little thing and item. Example with Standard I bought a couple of doors for a flat rate. The other yards want to charge extra for the latch, the glass, core charge, it never ends. Very happy with my purchases. They have a golden oldies row which is awesome. This location does all you can carry specials every few months.So if you can manage the nightmare yard set up it is a cheaper alternative to the competition.

Found the car parts I needed at Standard Auto, needed them delivered all the way to Saskatchewan. Dealt with Joanne Larocque, who was able to complete the transaction over phone and email, she made the whole process super easy. Part was exactly as described. Couldn’t be happier. Excellent customer service. Hope to do business with you again. Thank you.

I've been here soo many times that one of the staff actually told me they would start charging me rent... :) I haven't had any issues that were reported by other reviewers. I hunt mostly for MK5/6 Volkswagen, and they're hard to come by.. I guess the demand is pretty high for these cars. I'd recommend this place, the UPIC yard as you can find gemstones in there for a very, very small portion of the price you'd pay for a new part at the dealership. I'll give it four stars 'cause they're closed on Sundays! I guess the staff have to have a day off and sleep...

Terrible experience with customer service, I called and asked if they had any 15 inch rims with a 5x105 lug pattern I could buy. The employee didn't understand the size so I told him what car it's going on. Apparently they have zero 15inch rims and when I asked what they do have he then hung up and won't answer my calls now.

I called to inquired about an auto part and I spoke with a gentleman named Mo which he found and gaved an amazing price!!! I had to come all the way from Ottawa to come get it!! I said to Mo let me find time to come get it because I wasn't sure if I had time this week. He called me back couple day later which I was surprise and happy to ask me if I was still interested! I'm like in my head wow!! I really appreciate the follow-up. I was thinking that was like a diamond service !! Super nice guy , super nice service, really want to help you out!! Good job !!!

The best part of this place was being able to go into the yard and pick your own parts . Sad

The call centre that picks up initially has the utmost professionalism, as soon as they transfer you to the Ottawa location you understand why there are so many negative reviews regarding the customer service. I would rather run my nails down a chalkboard than try to have a conversation with your sales guys, let alone buy anything from here.
