My mother is here, and we have had a wonderful experience with Hogarth. The staff have are competent and caring. Originally, we had very serious concerns about having my mother in this facility. We saw the news reports, complaints, and heard the reputation from friends and were very resistant to having our loved one here. Hogarth is 4 times the size of other homes in Thunder Bay, with speciality units which is something to keep in mind when you hear the horror stories. They are working hard to try and change the facility, and the reputation. Our experience has been to polar opposite of what we expected, and we are very grateful to everyone there. Based on our experience, I would not hesitate to recommend Hogarth if you have a family member in need.

This is the worst place to work .their staffs bully people there, you will literally hate yourself if you work here the management supports their staffs when the bully people infact if they bully you at hogarth and you lay a complaint, you will automatically be sacked hogarth is always short staffed becos they sack good workers everyday Their management supports the bullying and Ince you are new they always bully you and show supremacy the older staffs are not trained to welcome new staffs I don't advice anyone to work here. Run for for dear life

A 2 star review is being generous. Care here is limited by staff shortages, inefficient management team, and the fact that the facility only maintains Ontario Minisrty of Health “minimum” patient to staff ratios.Bricks, mortar, and a new building do not create acceptable care.Hence the reason, that the administrator and some of the senior management team have since been removed and replaced with interim management by the Ontario Ministry of Health. In comparison with the much older, and now closed, City run Grandview Lodge, this facility has numerous deficiencies. Our experiences with the senior management team, leave the impression that they refuse to be accountable.Bottom line, we would not at this time recommend this facility for long term care in Thunder Bay.Verify the above, and more, by Googling Hogarth Riverview Manor, St Joseph’s Care Group, on CBC Thunder Bay.Edited 2018/04/19

so many aspects of this place are a complete nightmare, but it only progressively gets worse as the management is horrendous. it’s really sad to think about the lack of adequate attention and care that goes into these facilities in general, as the issue extends further than this one alone. time and time again they fail their residents by providing subpar care & completely unacceptable nutritional standards. couple feeding the residents food of disgraceful quality (completely overcooked, disorganized meal plans, tasteless, nutrition-less garbage) with the absurd budget cuts (pathetic reduced proportions, rotting food, purposefully watered down beverages, constantly running out of food during service, not providing their staff with necessary tools for the job, the list goes on..). Many staff do not take pride in their work or are completely beat down from embarrassment of representing such a lack of compassion in this place with no real hope for change. There are non stop complaints within the walls of this facility so if you love your family and can help it, avoid this place like the plague it is. The insanely high cost of living there is a complete joke, they raise the prices for rent but decrease the quality and standards of service… Make it make sense.

My mom has received excellent care since her admission nearly 3 months ago, during a particularly difficult time for LTC. ( I visit daily). The staff have been nothing short of exemplary. The food is of good quality and well balanced. Financing and all administrative matters have been handled efficiently. Any care enquiries have been handled in a timely manner to the satisfaction of mom and her family

An absolute horrible establishment. Not only do they not take care of their employee needs but even worse, their residents. They continue to fail meeting their patient food requirements, resulting in constantly falling short on meals and proper portion sizes for their residents. Complaints voiced from staff and families to management continuously fail to fix this issue.I feel nothing but frustration and sadness for friends of mine who have family members residing in this home. I don’t know what other St. Joseph’s locations are like but, I pray they aren’t half as bad as this one. Red seal chefs get bonuses on their paychecks for “cutting costs” and saving money which in reality is cutting short residents meal sizes or some residents not getting certain dishes that others get. Shameful.Eggs are commonly served for both breakfast and lunch…I didn’t write this review to exaggerate or purposely slander an old workplace… but rather to voice my frustration like anybody with a conscience should. I post this publicly and gladly. If there was an option for 0 stars this place deserves it. Hopefully they change their ways but, I seriously doubt it.

My father was a resident in this home.At one point my fathers condition and needs changed. I found that HRM did not meet my fathers changing health .needs. I repeatedly had to report to staff when his condition continued to deteriorate. I felt that these needs were being neglected where I had requested to call an ambulance on 2 occasions.Following second visit to Emergency Department my Father did not return to HRM reason being he died.I initiated a complaint with HRMto which they investigated a total of 10 or more complaints brought forward by self.I met with Unit Mgr today and a representative from Extendacare Health a third party mgt company who has been in place for sometime to oversee operations of this Home. They provided to me their findings/investigation into my complaint. No surprise they had an answer/excuseHRM took no responsibility of events leading up to my father's death.Presenting themselves as no wrong doing.Informing myself that this mtg was informal and that I declined to report this to the Ministry of Health. That was never discussed. What an insult.I personally with bringing this forward to The MOH to add to the numerous complaints resulting in critical incidents of this home. And to anyone else who will listen
