Mack Laing Nature Park
Superb place for a crisp fall time walk. It's filled with monster sized ferns and enormous trees.Creek was soo peacefull.Leaves have changed colour and it's a mysterious setting to go explore , just a few paces from Filberg Park..You won't be disapointed. Go for a walk this week.. I did today with a friend, talking,& taking photos and listening to the sound of the water flowing by..

Easy walk in a beautiful ravine in the middle of Comox. The creek though is very low at Comox hasn't had much rain this summer.

A perfect early morning or evening stroll down to the seaside - it's a lovely in town nature walk that follows along Brooklyn Creek. You can almost forget that the park is behind house's. In the autumn you might spot spawning salmon or trout swimming up the creek. Several boards along the trails with information on wildlife & fauna that inhabit the park. Plus it is a popular place to walk dog's.If meandering along the ocean shoreline, towards Filberg Park, Comox Valley Harbour, before reaching the weathered wooden bridge, you'll come to a narrow path through the sea grass leading inland. Shortly thereafter you'll arrive at a grassy mound with several memorial benches. It is a suitable location to meditate while enjoying a spectacular view. Also there is a garbage & Doggy Poop Bags at this site. There is some climbing up and down steps and/or steep hill's involved, depending on which entrance or exit you take. If you want to walk the entire park (including Brooklyn Creek Park) you'll need to go accross Balmoral Avenue - which does entail doing steps. Brooklyn Creek Park has a lovely little faux waterfall - pleasant place to visit on a hot day.Be careful on the wooden surfaces when wet, they can be extremely slippery.

A stunningly beautiful surprise in a peaceful neighbourhood where trail and stream management well maintained. Stairs involved and uneven ground. Although a serene environment, I'm not recommended this hiking trail for mobility challenged individuals.

Without a doubt, the walk along Brooklyn Creek through Mac Laing Nature Park, is my favourite nature walk in Comox. Through the seasons the walk takes on different tones, colours and moods as the flowers and shrubs blossom. When there is a lot of rain the water cascades heavily over the fish ladder and on a hot summer day the creek is just a trickle making it a delightful place to let small children splash and explore. Along the way there is signage to explain about the history and educate about the fish and flora. From Balmoral Avenue there are about 20 wooden stairs with handrails to be descended down to creek level. The path is easy to stroll along but there are the occasional small slopes and wooden stairs as well as wooden bridges to cross. Periodically there are wooden benches for resting or to just sit and enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings. About halfway to the ocean front there is a side exit up a dirt slope to Mack Laing Court. There's an abundance of wildlife that pass through and live in the park including salmon, eagles, herons, deer, black bears, racoons, several varieties of owls, etc. At the ocean you can walk to the left on the beach a short distance and enter McDonald Woods Forest for another peaceful forest walk back up to Balmoral Avenue. Round trip is approximately 2 kilometers.

Great little creekside park that leads to the beach which intersects with other trails. A short hop from the Filberg site which is a great study in contrasts. Signage as to linkage with other parks would be useful for new visitors..after all isn't that what signs are for..one example unclear if you can walk the beach back to the Filberg.

A very nice wooded walk along gravel paths with a quick little creek, then onto grassy beach that's a nice break from the usual sand and stones. Perfect spots for the kids to build little dams on a warm day.

The small wood bridge that has a creek under it.This creek is a salmon habitat. You can protect it by not letting your dogs run through it.The sign is not in the best location so that is why I thought this might be helpful.A nice trail beside a creek surrounded by trees. Ocean views of the ocean with some drift logs.

In July there are mosquitoes, but they aren't that aggressive. I even did some sketching. A really nice walk.
