What can I say, I was referred to Colin at Watch Off The Cuff by a friend of mine. I’m pretty protective of my watches, so I want to make sure I can trust the person working on cares as much about them as I do. I can say with 100% certainty that Colin is one of those people.I came in for an issue I had with my IWC Chronograph having a stripped spring bar (and this was technically on a holiday). I had my AD look at it with no success. Colin made it look easy. Not only getting the spring bar out in a matter of minutes, but letting me pick his brain while he was doing it. It’s always incredible to find other people as obsessed with watches as I am. I feel like I’ve gained a friend just as much as I’ve gained a fantastic watchmaker.Thank you so much Colin! Colin at Watch Off The Cuff did an amazing job doing a complete restoration of my grandfather's 1943 Omega. It hasn't ticked in at least 20+ years. After a full restoration, it's ticking, accurate, and looks amazing! I've added it to my watch rotation. Highly recommend Colin. He's passionate, detail oriented, and knows his stuff. I recently became a watch enthusiast and had a few older pieces that needed some repair work.I met Colin through a Facebook watch group, and also through Milton Watch Club meetings that he organizes and hosts.2 older quartz watches (Fossil and Guess) needed new batteries. Colin swapped them out no problem and even polished the bracelets.The remaining 2 watches have a lot of sentimental meaning for me. One is a Girrard Perregeaux that I inherited from my late father. The mechanical movement was running about 5 minutes fast every day. Several horologists quoted me >$300 just to open up the case and take a look.Colin offered to look at it, and if it was beyond his skills, he wouldn't charge me for it. After opening it, he let me know a piece was simply misaligned over time (watch is from the 60s). He made the re-adjustment for $60. He then expertly polished the crystal as well, removing most of the scratches.The last watch is a 25 year old Guess watch that was gifted by my aunt when I turned 16. She was of the view that at 16, I needed an adult watch. I wore it faithfully for years and then it got submerged in the ocean, and it stopped working. One watch shop in the early 2000s quoted me $150 to fix. I declined at the time.Colin replaced the movement for $85 and now it's running again. I will be wearing it for my aunt's birthday dinner next weekend.Colin is also a great gentleman to chat with, and is a trusted and reliable professional. You can trust him with your watch, no matter the sentimental value, or actual value. If he can't fix it, he'll say so.
