Beautiful trail that will bring you to the bay bulls lighthouse (watch out for large peices of broken glass that have fallen from the lighthouse). If your hiking with a dog be very mindful of parts of the trail running on the edge of the cliff with a straight drop.

INCREDIBLE trail. Ensure to come prepared with great shoes/boots. Parking near the trail head. The walk to the lighthouse is deceptively long and will require a few hours of your time, but it’s well worth it. Lots of great views along the way!

I did this hike today from Bay Bulls to the Shoal Bay Road trail head near Goulds. It total about 24km. There were places with snow and ice creating occasion slippery conditions but that wasn’t unexpected for a December hike. For the most part the hike was amazing. There were amazing views. With over 1000m of over vertical, some challenging footing and close proximity to cliff’s edges, this is not a hike that should be done if you’re inexperienced and don’t have decent boots and other gear. The only really bad part of the hike is the dreary 6km of the Shoal Bay Road you need to walk to get to or from the North end of the Spout Trail. In some places it is pretty much a stream so unless you have decent boots you will get wet feet. In December much of this is frozen making navigating it a slow tedious task. That said, it is worth it to experience the rest of the hike.

Beautiful, rugged trails along the coast, offering stunning views. Challenging hikes. Could use some trail maintenance and better markings. Few times I had a hard time discerning the way.Definitely coming back for more

One of the most scenic hiking trails in Newfoundland!. The trail is not to be underestimated. It's very long and has some wet areas but the views are worth it!

So beautiful. Highly recommended. The hike is quite technical, must look out for foot placement and your occasionally have to scramble and climb over some rocks.

Beautiful? for sure! But trail is not easy to hike, and takes a long time to get the lighthouse, which we didn't do in that hot summer day.

Beautiful trail! So much to see along the way from sea stacks, waterfalls, a waterspout, bald eagles, etc. I started from Bay Bulls and hiked to the waterspout which was 12.7km and then walked the 12.7km back. The hike from Bay Bulls is supposedly more scenic from what I've read. It took us about 7.5 hours, but that is with barely stopping but for pics along the war there and with moving rather quick. I didn't have hiking boots to wear but I would highly recommend them. I almost sprained an ankle multiple times. It can be rocky and overgrown in areas and slippery when wet and muddy but that's what makes you feel like you are on an actual hike. Loved it and recommend it to active people who want something more challenging than Signal Hill or Cape Spear!

One of the most spectacular hiking trails in the world.Late September to early October is my favorite time of year as the ferns turn a deep fiery orange and many areas are completely covered with blueberries and mushrooms.

Out of all the ECT's to choose from, this path (the spout) is my favorite by far. It has beautiful views throughout and is well maintained by the association. The trail also features an old lighthouse and the famous spout. I would stress that this is one of the more longer/difficult trails and I do not recommend this trail if you are not an experienced hiker with decent overall health.
