Black Spoon Bistro
Delicious food here and friendly staff. John Ratchford and I had the veggie salad which was amazing, it had cooked onions and other root vegetables. I added scallops and shrimp but John Ratchford didn’t add meat.My good friend Liz and he daughter both had wraps. The girl absolutely loved her wrap, and Liz loved the side chowder which had real chunks of big lobster and other seafood.The child had a Perrier with lemon to drink, and we all had teas and coffees.Wonderful food, great staff.John paid for us all, imagine.

We stopping in for lunch before sailing to Newfoundland. Absolutely delicious and good value!! Highly recommend!! Note that they only take cash.

Delicious Cajun seafood medley and bacon wrapped scallop carbonara. Loved the seafood assortment in the Cajun dish. The lemon cake and skor cheesecake were extremely delicious as well. Will happily go back :) they were cash only and required reservation

Black Spoon Bistro
The Black Spoon Cafe was lovely! Beautiful atmosphere with wonderful food. The lunch special (½ sandwich, soup, and salad) was delicious. Homemade roasted red pepper soup with a chicken provolone sandwich warmed me right up and with all the right flavors. I would definitely recommend it for a nice lunch when you’re stopping by the area!

Pretty good! We usually arrive/order between lunch and dinner hours so sometimes there’s some confusion when it comes to what the kitchen will make but they’re usually pretty accommodating!I’ve only ever had a problem once with a server who came to our table, asked us what we wanted to drink, took our order, and then asked us what we wanted to drink again. It was a funny story for later on, but a little bit awkward when it happened!

Exceptional food. Great service. What the special is get it. We had the sea food special. Haddock, scallops, shrimp with a Basil cream sauce. Vegetable was, shredded carrots, zucchini, onion sauteed with garlic. Roasted potatoes and the garlic mashed ones, delicious. The Chef came out and asked how everything was, since first to order this.. Stellar was our reply. Had a couple drinks and the spring roll app. I highly recommend this place.

The wife and I had dinner here. It is a reservation and cash only restaurant. The cash only is recent and I am not sure why.I had the pork tenderloin with garlic mash and the wife had the maple chicken curry. Both meals were very flavourful and the portions were larger than expected. We both felt full at the end of the meal without a starter or a dessert. Both were about 25 dollars which in this day and age is reasonable price.The staff were pleasant and quick. The tables were fairly well spaced out and the overall atmosphere felt welcoming. We will definitely be back to try more dishes.

This place, as do many in Canada requires reservations. We had dinner here. The location is in a couple store fronts near the ferry terminal. It is a bit upscale but fair pricing. We had a shared sales and two entrees and two wines for $90C. We had the blackened seafood and the Cajun seafood pasta. Both excellent! Both are very spicy. So those with a delicate pallet be forewarned. I’d recommend!

I arrived in town to board the ferry to NFLND and when looking for a place to eat, wasn't finding much until I discovered the Black Spoon and almost felt it was out of place in such a small town but regardless, it was a first class meal. Having travelled all the way from Vancouver Island to this east coast and dined many places, this was by far the best. Service & cost were great. Not overpriced like the $104 I paid for a veal dish (wine & appie) in Ottawa. I got good value, fantastic taste and plenty of food for the bucks. Thanks Tori for your friendly service. I enjoyed my dinner and it made my stay in North Sydney that much better.

Visiting from Winnipeg, MB. The seafood chowder is the best I ever had in my life! Great combo with the grilled cheese with bacon.
