Food Basics

Lots of parking in this plaza. Discount supermarket but with Great customer service. The cashier - Sandra was friendly and helpful. Saw her helping an non English speaking senior patiently in the line. She also promoted an on sale produce to us when she saw us buying a regular price one. Good model to the company. Food Basics always offers great deals to their customers. Please keep us the good customer service!

This particular Food Basics is by far one of the worst grocery stores I've been to. The food quality is terrible and I see a lot of food that's already gone bad or moldy being displayed (i.e. I've seen BROWN ground beef being sold on the shelf). Anything I've ever bought on sale here has gone bad before the expected expiry date and I'm starting to think that's why it goes on sale. I've noticed most of the employees are teenagers - this is not a problem - but the abysmal state of the store really reflects the work/effort put in by the employees. I always bring my own bags for self-checkout, and one time I was scanning my items and before putting them into my bag an employee comes up to me and assumes that I was stealing the bags and tried to get me to scan them. Just awful.

Totally disgusted by fresh" raspberries purchased today. Opened all my packages up and all were in various stages of rot and decay. NASTY. Rotted

Pathetic, nonsense, rude behaviour and helpless staff memebr . Today I visit gerrad food basic and I ask to 4,5 staff member to help me find something but they were soooooooo rude and nobody help me. Even a chines man in dairy section was doing something and I ask very polieltly where can I have this item ' he didn't replied me . Highly recommended not go to this store .Manager you should have to monitor the customer’s service of your staff and teach some lesson to speak politely and helps to others.

I've used self checkout at countless other stores and have never had a problem. I can say without hesitation that the system used at this location is the absolute worst one. I'm not sure if it was a fault of the particular out station I was using, but it required employee intervention for nearly every other item scanned because of various errors. An extremely frustrating experience.

If you want to be sassed and disrespected by the cashier staff, shop here.The past 4 times I have been here, there have been line ups around the store waiting to pay and cash out. I can plan in advance and prepare for an unnecessary long wait. Nothing could have prepared me for the rude demeanour of the cashier with the overly long lash extensions. Not only was she super rude my partner and I. But, she and the self check out attendant were talking poorly about an elderly man at self check out, right in front of him and other customers. Customer service and respecting seniors is clearly not a priority with these two staff members.

This store is always a mess, not organized anything properly and they never refill when they need to like today I went at around 1.30 pm and there was no Selection bread available and other brands were mostly gone. I would recommend them to refill regular basis. They should work on organizing halal section a bit more and bring more Halal stuff like today I didn't see any halal burger anywhere. The cashier was prompt in service. When we got out I saw all the shopping cart were placed everywhere and I even couldn't move. They should assign someone to go and organize those.

Umm I’ve been going here for almost 30 + years? At least to Gerrard square. As far as I remember a good 15+ years? It’s a great place. Great discount. Highly recommended. Seriously, they are cheaper than Metro, Loblaws, Sobeys etc.

Good prices and quality grocery products. Their discounts are sometimes really good. Should check sometimes their flier for great deals. Its located in side Gerrard square shopping centre. The bad thing is here you cant take shopping chart to to your car. Its only until exit .

This Food Basics does not care about there customers at all. I made a complaint to the manager of this store and he ignored me, laughed me off the phone and told me that I don't know how to run a store. I just want my sale coffee. You prices of....do not expect any respect walking into 1000 Gerrard square. These people should be fired by the ones that hired them. Steer clear!
