Muskoka Recovery - Detox, Rehab, Addiction, and Mental Health Treatment Centre

A family member just returned from a 30 day treatment plan for addiction. We are so grateful for the changes we see thus far. This facility/staff is extremely professional, but still radiates a beautiful family vibe. Our family member came home much happier, healthier, (apparently they have the best Chef ever!) optimistic, and eager to take the next step to a build themselves a better life. The support does not stop there, treatment will be continued via zoom and they are always a phone call away. We are so grateful for everybody at Muskoka Recovery!

I have nothing but amazing things to say about this place! After doing tons of research and calling many facilities in both the USA and Canada, I knew Muskoka Recovery was the place for me. Especially after such a lovely first call with Christine. I flew in from Dallas TX, and from the minute we were picked up in Toronto and got to the Centre, everyone made me feel so welcome and at home from the beginning to end. Muskoka has such a sense of family and togetherness that is unparalleled to anything I’ve ever experienced. I went into the centre feeling lost and helpless and with the help of the amazing staff I learnt so much about myself, addiction and how to deal with it. I truly believe this place and the people that work there saved my life. I will forever be grateful for my two months at Muskoka Recovery. I highly recommend this place for anyone who is struggling and looking to change their life for the better!

As far as I can tell, this place is a scam. Beware sending your money. Make sure staff is accredited. When asked for proof of legitimacy, I was met with hostility from the director so decided not to pursue this option

I will start by prefacing that I have been to multiple detox/rehab facilities both ohip covered and paid stays. This by far was the most comfortable and enjoyable detoxes as well as the quickest recovery time, every one of my needs were met thanks to Chris Andersen and staff. Hopefully I never need another stay at a facility but if I do I know exactly who I will be calling first!

Two words, life changing. Two more words, thank you. I was not supposed to be here 60 days ago. But then a friendly voice on the other end of the phone picked up. The nurse whose favourite colour is purple. She encouraged me to come in and look at the facility. When I walked in the place was beautiful. I was still skeptical. But then Damien, the head of the centre told me to trust him. I didn't trust anyone anymore at that point, but my gut told me to trust him. I'm so glad I did. With his master DBT techniques, the 2 counsellors daily classes, the one on one sessions and the countless support from peer clients, Muskoka recovery saved my life and it will save yours too. Whether you're there for mental health, detox, addiction, or whatever personal reason, Muskoka recovery is the place to go and the reason why I'm alive writing this review. Muskoka Recovery has an amazing facility and staff that really make you feel at home. I had been struggling for many years with substance abuse and addiction and often shied away from getting the help I needed with the fear of being judged. Through them, I have learned a lot about myself and developed methods to cope with my struggle with sobriety. This has been one of the best experiences of my life here and I am proud to say that I have sober for nearly 8 months thanks to the program and staff at Muskoka Recovery.

I came to Muskoka recovery for my mental health. This experience gave me a sense of family within the staff that I have never felt before. The love and care I have received has not gone without notice. Believe it or not I have never felt such a great sense of belonging until I came to rehab. I previously would’ve judged myself for feeling that way. However, I have never had so much love for a group of people before. When I got here 30 days sounded like a lifetime- and now I would like to buy a room and live here. Crazy how things change so quickly. I guess this is what it feels like to be ADAPTIVE. No words can describe how thankful I am for this experience. Life changing. So much love and gratitude. From the bottom of my heart thank you.

Welcoming family vibe. Doesn't make you feel like you're caged in an institution but rather in a safe haven for recovery and sobriety. Great walking trails immersed in nature as well. I highly recommend...the staff really went out of their way to make us feel comfortable

Hi,I am not one to write reviews on my own experiences as it is not something I typically do. I was a broken when I first arrived due to my own behavior. When I was greeted at the door by Christine I knew I was in the right place for treatment.The people from the center were kind and caring but you have to remember you are there for treatment. There are private meetings with your counselor as well as group meetings where skills are taught to overcome your issues. There is a reason for this as it is all part of the recovery process which includes sharing your innermost thoughts . (this includes offsite meetings at night during the week)After 30 days I left with the skills and knowledge but knowing that unless I implement these skills I will be on the same train again.(you can be taught the skills but the hard work is on you)It has been a couple of days since I returned home but the people I met including other patients will remain with me forever. It is a funny adjustment as you get home and start your new life but with the knowledge and friendships I have made it it was worth it and I am on the way to recovery.To anyone willing to undergo a transformation this center is one of the best.Best wishes to anyone that needs help. You are in the right place.BR

My experience at Muskoka Recovery was like no other. I have been to rehabs before, some of the best in Ontario, but nothing topped this facility. As someone with knowledge in the mental health and addiction world, I can safely say that the curriculum you learn throughout the week can help save your life. The program is heavily DBT based which is not only hard to find, but having a facilitator that explains it well AND works through it with you is even harder. The counsellors and staff are welcoming, kind and knowledgable, and it is the perfect place for any of your mental health needs whether it be Anxiety & Depression, BPD & Bi-polar or a Substance Abuse concern of any kind. They don't force 12-step programming on you, which is a huge thing for me - but they do offer to take you to meetings if you're interested. The food is amazing, and the chef WILL cater to your dietary needs if weight loss is something you're looking for as well. That + the gym amenities really helped me get through my eating disorder, and the tanning bed helped me add that extra bit of self-care into my routine. I was lucky enough to see my primary counsellor and the DBT coach (Psychotherapist) each once a week, paired with classes throughout the week to keep me busy and ample amount of work to really dig deep on my issues and concerns. I must say that i was shocked that we were allowed our phones and laptops throughout our stay there - no centre in Ontario allows this, so if you are unable to fully commit to taking time away from work or family, this place gives you the perfect amount of freedom so you can stay connected, while also being in peace and serenity to get well. I learned more about myself, my illnesses and the skills I needed to live a life worth living in just 30 days. More than I have in YEARS working through my recovery. I was able to work through real life problems that were happening in real life time, which made me apply the skills, and therapeutic tools in their appropriate setting, versus just being locked away for 30 days. The place is gorgeous, the rooms are spectacular and the on-call doctor is on top of his stuff! Finding a centre where the doctor listens to your needs and gets what you need as quickly as he does is also another hard find. The bi-weekly massage and chiropractor appts also add to the self-care that this facility is able to provide. Every other week going out to eat so we could get comfortable around triggers with the safety of staff is also amazing Exposure Therapy that most facilities don't offer.I didn't know whether I was going to live or die before Muskoka, so thankyou to every counsellor, every staff and especially my DBT coach for saving my life. If you're looking for luxury and a place to help you get clean and sober, as well as bettering your mental health - I highly recommend Muskoka Recovery.
