Went once, will not come back. Heavy police presence, lots of crazy homeless lingering around. I’m not surprised they close this place down once a year, way too many nut jobs screaming and yelling. GO AT YOUR OWN RISK.

The Millennium Library in Winnipeg is a true gem! It offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, a wide collection of books and resources, and modern, spacious design. The staff is helpful, and there are plenty of cozy seating areas. The library hosts events and programs, making it a fantastic community hub. It's the perfect place for learning, relaxation, and connecting with fellow book lovers.

Been a while, due to covid mostly. The library is open and staffed, covid conditions in place. You do not have to provide POV but masks and distancing are enforced. Study desks are spread out and the tables have had all but 1 chair removed to keep social distancing. There is even a note suggesting you keep your visit short. A bit of a pity, they have always had some interesting art and temporary exhibits. Today there is some first nations related exhibits and a display of musical instruments you can actually borrow !!I like to browse the shelves in the area of my interest. Today's visit was to get some beginning books on leather working and some art research (looking into Constable at the moment) and as usual the library provided what I wanted.Getting there is usually easy. It is on the Graham transit corridor so lots of busses stop almost at the front door. I used to make a half day event to visit but there is a derth of places to get a cuppa and a bun right around the building and walking about right now is a pain due to construction and slush/ice. The coffee shop that was in the foyer is gone and some sort of new facility is going in, but it looks a long way from ready.I meant to check into the maker facilities but forgot to. If I get a chance I'll report on that separately.

I've had some very good experiences with the security here. A gentleman slowly approached me to tell me they're closing. Very gracious and professional. Only Tice I can recall. Once very long ago security at the front accusationally felt up my jacket. Then recently an older lady was immensely rude. I immediately video taped my talk about de-escalation and security concepts. I had to tell this one how to do her job.The front door has improved, I even let in a joke here and there. I do enjoy making them smile. Which otherwise would be a potentially dangerous job.Mostly very quiet to the point one can think. Usual library noises. All this helps ones thoughts. I can accredit some great ideas typing here. What a great view unto the rear garden.May we never ban books.

A great place for resources, books, WiFi, computers, for adults and kids for reading, yet not a quite place. people talking as they wanted, made phone calls and spoke as loudly as they needed. You can't thing it's a library-quite place for reading. A guy was talking loudly on the phone, a security person reminded 3, 4 times that he is interrupting others, but took no further action. My home with kids is by far better. The workers and security people are making another talk, laughter & noise. No one will think you need silence. If you want a quite place to read or work on your laptop, do not think coming here.

Superb library that offers so many services, resources, and free programming. Great building too with lots of places to sit and read, study, or relax (including outdoors too).Only downside is that I am not confident my bicycle would still be locked to the bike rack if I cycled to/from the library. Maybe? But I am not willing to take the chance. :(

Dislike the security gates and upset our city has devolved into a guranteed cesspool of violence. I do appreciate the presence of the Millennium and the staff are polite and helpful.
