Located blocks from McGill University, Mae Sri is a cozy Thai restaurant on Milton Street. Great ambiance! When you are seated you scan the QRC (square bar code) to pull up the menu then order and pay for the food at the counter. They will bring the food to you which is really delicious, tasty and well made. They have a great attentive staff. It was the best Pad Thai I've ever had. I would absolutely recommend it and can't wait to go back.

My first experience at that place went very well. I ordered Tom Yum and enjoyed it a lot (on the picture), so I decided to go there again. On my second visit, I ordered Tom Yum again and my husband ordered Pad Thai. Unfortunately, we had to wait for our order for almost an hour! Finally, a waiter came to our table to confirm our order and it seemed like they had prepared the food but forgot to serve it. The food was served cold, so we kindly asked the waiter to heat it up. When I tried my Tom Yum soup, it didn't taste like Tom Yum at all - it tasted like Pho, a Vietnamese soup. I told the waiter about this and had to wait another 15 minutes to get the right soup. What's worse, the staff didn't apologize or offer us a complimentary drink or dessert. My friends and husband were with me all that time, and unfortunately, the Pad Thai wasn't good either. I have no plans to go back there again.

My friend and I went there for dinner and the decor and atmosphere were pleasant. My friend ordered the chicken and I ordered the tofu version of the dish. You have the option to order extra noodles if you want more, at a fee. I was very happy with my dish; the sauce was tasty and rich and I felt like I had several options to choose from the menu. However, we had one rather uncomfortable interaction with one member of the staff. My friend had questions regarding the cooking of her chicken (it looked quite pale so she asked if that was normal for this dish or if perhaps it was undercooked) and the employee seemed personally offended by this very general question. We didn't mean wrong, we were just asking and it is perfectly possible that the food was meant to be like that but there is a way to tell the customer this information without making them feel like they committed a terrible offense. This was just one employee so I will not say service was bad because it's likely that anybody else in the staff would have been courteous and kind.

Incredible street Thai food. The flavours are explosive and amazing. Papaya salad was fresh and loved the Tomyum soup. Servers were very kind and explained everything to us. I loved the idea of paying before eating. Food came very fast. A lil in the pricey side but very well worth it. Can’t wait to come here in the winter to try more soups.

Food was absolutely delicious, no complaints with the food and I would come here everyday if it wasn’t for the portion and the price. Especially the mango sticky rice, for such a tiny portion, it shouldn’t be priced for what it is.

Ambience was beautiful and food was delicious. We order Thai milk tea and Thai coffee. Both of which can iced in a beautiful metallic bowl and was delicious. We ordered a beef and pork platter to share. My husband and our friend both got the Kuai Tiao Tom Yum soup noodle while I had the fried chicken Hainan rice which came with a small bowl of broth and sweet dipping sauce. I love Hainan chicken rice and the fried chicken option was a nice change. I got a taste of the soup from my husband's tom yum. The soup is very flavorful. As for the shared platter it was okay compared to the main dishes.I also ordered a tapioca pudding which I asked for it to come after the meal which may have been a mistake because it got very busy so we had quite a wait after our meal. It was okay for us because we got to chat but I did feel bad for taking up the table long after we finished eating just because of a dessert that came late, especially since there was a good amount of people waiting for the table to free up. The pudding was okay, it was a mild sweetness typically of most Asian desserts and the coconut topping had the signature lightly salty sweet taste. I do wish I could taste the pandan in the tapioca pearls more.It also got pretty cold due to the drafts from the double doors being open at the same time when people came in or walked out. Not sure if anything could be done for it since the restaurant is already small. I know some establishments make a curtained area in addition to the double doors but it will just take up more space. Also about the drinks if you get cold easily you may want to avoid them due to the constant drafts. It will not help despite how delicious they are. I know hot drinks are not typical of Thai cuisine but perhaps less ice during winter? It's not likely to melt as fast here as it would in the hot humidity of Thailand.Word to the waiters, don't offer the option of bringing dessert after the meal. Bring everything at the same time so that if it gets busy you will not have a table stuck waiting for dessert while you have a lot of people waiting for tables.

Mae Sri is some of the most authentic Thai food I have come across since moving to Canada 10 years ago.I appreciate their focus on noodle dishes which I find generally lacking in the entirety of Toronto’s Thai food scene. I was transported back home in the flavours here.

Cozy and friendly place for a casual dinner. It’s a street food style and you pay first. The foods are good. The Thai tea was alright. The staff were friendly and chilled.Good to know: -1 point for lacking the allergies accommodation. Might be a bit tricky if you have peanuts allergy as they use the same frying oil for all deep fry items, so it was used to deep fry peanuts.
