Ed's Motor Auto Service

My experience with the repair shop was disappointing to say the least. My 1996 Firbird Formula would not start when I came out of Superstore, so when I called a towing truck to take it to a dealership, the towing truck driver suggested I take it to Ed's Motor Auto Service. It's a small shop 2 blocks away from Superstore, so I agreed.That turned out to be a BIG mistake.I'm sure they're fine with simple service like changing spark plugs and an oil change, but this was way out of their league. When we towed the car that evening, it wouldn't start. Next day when I talked to Ed's son, Mckenzie, during our second call he said it started right up in the morning but ran rough. Like duh!? I already told them that there was an issue with ignition/electrical system. Kind of the reason I had to tow the car to their place in the first place.Mckenzie billed me for 2 hours of diagnostics ($290.30) and printed out a really nice invoice. Supposedly he removed all the fuel injectors and put a paper under each injector for half an hour to see if it was dripping fuel. According to him, injector 1 and 2 were leaking. So I assumed he was going to replace it/fix it. Well... that didn't happen.When he called me next day, he gave me a bunch of excuses why they couldn't replace the injectors (takes a few days to order parts, they had to get to other customer cars so they had to put the injectors back without doing anything, he wouldn't be able to get to my car because they not only had other customers booked but were probably going to get more because of the long weekend coming up, etc... BS... etc.) YES... he actually said all that to me.Hearing all that, I got the impression he wasn't interested in actually figuring out what the ignition/electrical/mechanical problem was... you know... the reason I brought the car into their shop in the first place.There is no doubt the issues with my car were way above his pay-grade, but I don't appreciate being BS'ed to. If the diagnosis is above your skill level, there is no shame to be honest about it. Don't waste my time and money because you don't know what you're doing.I didn't need to have my tires, breaks, antifreeze, etc. checked and nicely added to the invoice as if to show Mckenzie was busy so he could bill me for 2 hours. What I needed was for the shop to diagnose the problem and fix it, not give me the walk-about.I give credit to people where credit is due, but when Mckenzie tells me he spent 2 hours diagnosing, taking off, testing, and putting back on the fuel injectors, BUT there is still dust on/around them like they haven't been touched (when we looked at the engine after I paid the bill), it looks very suspicious.As I said, after wasting $290.30, barely getting the car home because they didn't fix anything, and now having to take it to another shop to start from square one... I would NOT recommend Ed's Motor Auto Service to anyone... ☹️

I have been coming to Ed's for years... I mostly fix my cars but when there is a job that I can't do or just don't want to Ed is who I call...I had a turbo bolt that was seized and he couldn't get it off either and didn't charge me VW was $349.00 just to try to get it off ... I will be back

Over 4 -5 yearsthese Gentleman have been great to me and my family. They have fixed all our cars and make sure we know everything that needs immediate attention and things that can wait. I definitely recommend them.

Ed is a great mechanic, and a top notch guy! Came in with an issue and he served me right away. I higy recommend this shop. The lady behind the counter, I forget her name but she was all smiles and offered me coffee while I was waiting.

My Dad found Ed after an expensive go, they got his 72 Monaco running like a cloud, after 3 different mechanics, and was cheaper than them all.I brought my jeep in yesterday after 5 pm on a tow, was ready to be pick-up before noon today.Their prices are by far the best, I've been able to afford to get more done on my jeep, our vehicles will be going there from now on. Brought my car in because squealing was coming from the brakes. Was an older car so had drum brakes in the the rear. They lifted up the car and took the wheels and rear brake covers off. Found no problem with the pads, just abit of rubbing from the backplate which will eventually grind down and the noise will disappear. Did not charge me and showed me the issue first hand. Great service, great guys, easy going.

I had issues with my vehicle. Got quoted ridiculous price and I said I would look elsewhere. Went down the street to Ed for the first time. Quote was HALF the price of the place just 2 blocks up the same street. Since then I have been going to Ed for any problem I have. He has always been honest and he does proper job as he takes pride in what he does. The value for your dollar is unbeatable! My only go to mechanic

I was tired of feeling ripped off by other mechanics. I came to Ed's after hearing how great they are from my father-in-law. He was right and now this is my go-to place I bring both of my vehicles. Very trustworthy, accommodating, professional, nice family run business. Even though I moved to Maple Ridge I wouldn't take my car's anywhere else.
