Thompson Jiu Jitsu Academy

I've been training with Dave for a couple of years now and love it. There's a great atmosphere in the gym, very welcoming and Dave has always helped each individual with their strengths and weaknesses.Looking forward to the rest of this journey in BJJ!

At first I was sceptical about juijitsu however after a friend invited me to a first free class I fell in love with the sport. Since then in a short period of three months I’ve won 2 gold medals in 2 different tournaments, met the amazing people that go there and over all had a great time. The head coach David Thompson is very experienced and teaches people EXTREMELY well. The people that go there are very nice and will always assist in solving any questions and problems you will face.

My whole family goes here: myself, wife and 5 & 7 year old daughters. It is a safe and welcoming atmosphere for beginners and we are happy to be a part of this school. It has become an integral part of my children's lives especially. I look forward to watching them mature with Dave, a truly positive role model/coach.

A top notch academy. Very pleased and impressed with the quality of instruction my two sons receive at Thompson Jiu Jitsu. David is -without a doubt- a fantastic instructor and quite evidently a true mentor to the younger instructors in the kids' classes as well. Highly recommend this gem of an academy.

Amazing gym. This is where I attended my first ever BJJ class and I don’t think I could have picked a better gym. David is an amazing instructor, and if you trust his curriculum it’ll work wonders for you in competition and at other gyms. Great place for people of all skill levels. The gym itself is also a really cool looking space & they follow very good hygienic practices. This is THE place I would recommend for anyone looking to train BJJ in Toronto.

Best decision I’ve ever made.Training with David Thompson changed my life in only 3 months of training.It changed the way I walk, the way I talk and the way I think.BJJ will teach you more about yourself and the world than you could ever imagine.David Thompson is the living heart of Thompson Jiu Jitsu. A man that cares about every single student. A man that treats TJJ like his own big family.And this attitude is not only held by him, everyone Training there will treat you as one of their own from day one.But not only the atmosphere he created is top notch, but also the BJJ training. The curriculum is well structured and designed to teach you about a broad spectrum of Sweeps, Submissions and Takedowns in order for you to pick and choose your own style.And if all that wasn’t enough, one day I was at a birthday party where the majority was training BJJ in other gyms for a long time. And the second I mentioned David Thompson as my trainer, I found out about the great reputation he has all from blue up to black belts.I can’t thank TJJ and Thompson himself for the great time I had.I will definitely visit when I am back in Canada.

I tried out BJJ here for their intro month and although I didn’t have much experience, I felt super comfortable in this gym. David is a fantastic teacher and his curriculum was really straight forward and easy to pick up. Hoping to come back as soon as possible!

Been training with Dave for years and it has been one of the best decisions I've made.As far as gyms go the place is clean and well kept.The training is hard for people who want a competitive game and accessible for people new to martial arts.His curriculum is very detailed and the way we do the moves provides a strong foundation for BJJ.10 out of 10.
