So glad to go out of my way to this market. Italian (among some other) food products are great quality and very reasonably priced. They have things that you can't find elsewhere and management is always willing to help you find what something they don't have themselves. I've stepped up my Italian cuisine because of this shop.

I coming for the sandwiches. The best Italian sandwiches. $6 a sandwich. You can't go wrong! Ask the grandma to make you sandwich she's the best. Feed you like you're her own kid.

Great place… they are one of a few places - if not the only one, that carries the only Italian salt I will use ! Plus the staff is super friendly and helpful ☺️

Great Italian grocery store on Merivale. They have lots of Italian and broader European import goods, and the store-made or branded products are also generally high quality. The deli and sandwich counter are also great, but service can be a little slow. The bakery, however, is excellent, and I now just make my own sandwiches at home having stopped buying bread at chain grocery stores. A little pricey sometimes, but worth it for the quality and to support a local business.

Locally owned and a must go for all your Italian food needs.The sandwiches are legendary and the cheese selection excellent.

Dear Nicastro owner, have you tried your jarred pesto? I bet you haven't. Because if you had you wouldn't put your name on it.We opened it tonight and tried to have some pasta with it. My husband had a one bite then told me it tastes strange. As soon as I tried the pesto I told him this is not edible. We had to throw away our supper.We don't know why it tastes so bad. It is not expired until 2020. I didn't nitice it's made with sunflower oil when I bought it. I thought pesto is made with olive oil, isn't it?Anyway, it was a big disappointment.Here's the 5 stars review I wrote before: If you are looking for fine cheeses, here is the right​ place. Very helpful and friendly staff, great price, great value, always fresh. We love their Italian sandwiches and X'mas gift baskets.

A very poor selection of chocolate, cold cuts & cheese. The shop is poorly organized & is not very well managed. It was a big disappointment for us as we truly love Italian food. Don't buy chocolate by the brands shown on the photos.

Looks like the place has a new owner. We know Nicastro for 13 years, admit that we didn't hit the shop during COVID. Coming back now... The store transformed from a temple for Italien food to an average corner store. OK, a better one but not remotely what a Iatlien food store is supposed to be.I happily drove 200 km for the original Italian food. Today was the last visit.

Went in the get coffee. went to grab a basket and a rat went running. Visible evidence of heavy infestion

Great little store with lots of Italian specialties, including a lot of things you can't get at regular grocery stores.But.They close at freaking 4 o'clock! What kind of grocery store closes at 4 o'clock? Is that not crazy? I know it's not crazy because as I rolled up around 4:30 and tried the door, 3 other people rolled up and were just as baffled as I was that a grocery store would be closed an hour before most people get off work.And you might think, oh, that's probably just early in the week, surely there are some days where they're open later.No! They close at 4 o'clock every single day. Am I insane or is that not crazy? At least be open until 6 so people can swing by after work.I would like to shop there, but I have a 9-5 job, so it's almost impossible. They're closed half the weekend too. I don't know if they don't need it or if they don't want to be successful or something, but it is baffling to me that a store like this would be closed that early, every single day.
