Called on a Saturday morning looking for a cable for my inherited Brute 22” self propelled mower (Briggs & Stratton) and they took the time to look for it and found they had one. Great local shop for sales, service and parts, always call them even if you don’t think they carry your brand, you might be pleasantly surprised.

I have personally not used J & L - however my mid-70's senior citizen parents did. My father brought a part and part number to J&L. J&L didn't have the part but provided a substitute they assured my parents would work. Upon returning home, my father discovered it didn't even fit. Immediately my parents who live 30 minutes outside Peterborough drove the part back to J&L that same day only a few hours after just being at J&L. Upon arriving back at J&L, my parents were informed by staff that they wouldn't provide a return refund as although the part wasn't the correct part and didn't even fit, because it was an electrical component, they wouldn't take it back for refund. This return policy was not told to my father prior to buying this part.I've read all the review's and some seem very positive, however after hearing what they did to my senior citizen parents - I will not shop here. Why support 'the little guy' when this is how they operate. I will shop 'big box' for their better prices and much better return policy and customer service. Big box" at least has some accountability to the customer."

I brought my snowblower in on January 30 with a broken belt at 4 pm.They immediately offered to help unload it out of my truck.I asked them to do an oil change and general inspection while they had it in their shop.They called before lunch on the 31 that the work was completed and ready for pickup.The bill for the work was reasonable and fair.The staff I talked to were awesome and helpful and loaded the snowblower.I now have a new go to place for all my small engine needs.They sell new equipment and the prices were good.Highly recommend this business for all your lawn, garden and snow removal needs.

Terrible experience. I’ve never been here before but the grounding belt on my lawn mower broke and they were the only place with one in stock. I got there and walked towards the back and found someone and all I said was I called in about a replacement belt. I instantly got yelled at and told to go to the parts counter. I could have ignored it if machines were running but it was quite and 20 mins to close so there was pretty much no one there. All I can say is I will never go back to a place that yells at there customer for asking a question. Really rude

This shop can provide me parts for my snowblower that nobody else in the city seems to be able to do. The prices are reasonable and the in location service" is good. The big challenge is making phone contact. Their lines are often busy and getting through takes persistence. But still an excellent shop."

My dad bought a used (as is) tractor-mower off of J & L and had a problem with it within a couple of days. Contacted Diane on his behalf and asked if they would please take a look at it. She was very kind and said certainly to bring it back they would look at it and see what they could do. My dad left it with them for a couple of hours, came back and it was working properly again. The mechanic showed them what to do in case it happened again and sent them off happy and glad they used this company. Not only did they fix the problem but they also put on a plastic guard that had gotten broke at no fault of J and L. All at no cost. Very good service! Keep it up, it brings customers back and pays dividends in word of mouth for your business. Thanks! Dave Jarvis

Amazing service. I have a zero turn Toro mower with a Kawasaki motor. The other service place in town said 3 weeks to even look at it! At J and L they did the diagnosis, got the part and installed it, all in 7 days. It was a complicated repair and the price was exceptionally fair. I'll be back.
