Adrian Shewchuk is a past Real Estate client of mine and over the years I have had occasion to visit his home and see how much he has changed the home he bought through me and the workshop he later erected in his back garden. His craftsmanship, his attention to detail and the outstanding quality of his work has always been refreshing to witness, each time I have visited his outstanding heritage home. Adrian's passion, love and commitment to restoring older homes is evident in the excellent work he does. One can tell he spends time planning out the design and making sure every detail is looked after. He completely brought back the original beauty in our home and transformed our closed porch to the welcoming open space that it now is. We absolutely love it.

In 2017, we downsized to a 30- year old townhouse. The layout and size were perfect for us but the unit needed a major renovation. The bathrooms had been renovated recently and were quite attractive but the rest was 1980’s. We had a very good idea of what we wanted but the trick was to find the right person for us. A friend of ours who designs kitchens, who is extremely picky on doing only excellent work and who had done two kitchens for us before, introduced us to Adrian as most competent kitchen installer he had ever worked with. So we met Adrian for him to install a new kitchen in our town house. We connected well with Adrian and discovered that we had much in common. I learned that Adrian was a graduate architect from my alma mater. This new knowledge of course lead us to talk about the renovation of our unit. With Adrian’s design expertise and professional workmanship, he built for us a great modern town house. One special thing about Adrian during the renovation is that we could always consult Adrian and bounce ideas.

We have had Adrian do a number of projects for us over the past 10 years. He worked with us to re-design our house in preparation for a major renovation. Adrian was always great to work with - he listens to clients carefully and has thoughtful and creative ideas. We are still thrilled with the outcome. Our only regret is that he was across the country for the period of our renovation an couldn't take the renovation project on himself. Adrian also replaced many of the old windows in the un-renovated part of our house over the past number of years. Again, attention to detail and quality are a hallmark of his work. We would highly recommend working with Adrian - good client communication and great attention to detail and craftsmanship.

We have had the opportunity to hire Adrian on three occasions regarding renovation projects around our home. We were very happy with the final result of our upstair bathroom which did involve an open shower, intricate tiles pattern on walls and flour, vaulted ceiling, and new skylight. He did also assist us in the initial planning of our kitchen and dining room renovation. Adrian did listen well to our ideas and needs while being diplomatic in letting us know how realistic they were. We hired Adrian to design and renovate our kitchen as well as converting the carport to a garage. Adrian took the time to understand how we wanted to use the space, to bounce ideas back and forth, and made creative and insightful design suggestions. He turned our tiny 1960s built-for-one kitchen into a beautiful and functional open space that the whole family can enjoy. As an avid cook the kitchen is a joy to work in, with a fantastic layout and small details that make the whole space work. Adrian is a meticulous and professional builder who clearly takes pride in quality craftsmanship, which we see throughout the whole project. The new garage fits seamlessly with the rest of the house, another testament to his design acumen. We were so impressed by his work we asked him back to do a few other projects including designing and building a unique arbour that will bear kiwi fruit for years to come. We have recommended Atelier Design + Build to a few friends already and have no hesitation recommending him for your future project.

We have worked with Adrian on a few projects that have incorporated cork into the flooring and wall design. These projects were for discerning clients that have high expectations with respect to the level of finish required. Adrian has always exceeded expectations in quality even though there have been tight timelines and difficult circumstances. In an area where a lot of people take short cuts, Adrain has also been uncompromising in his attention to detail and quality.
