This is long overdue, I worked with Melissa and Kate last year with my doberman. They gave me a lot of confidence and helped me understand my dog through a new perspective. Melissa is so knowledgeable and her love for dogs is real. I would recommend Melissa and her team for any kind of dog, especially is you there are issues you want to address. To this day I still think about all the things she taught me and I am so grateful that my vet referred her. She will teach you everything, even down to nutrition and best leash options. Melissa is a great no nonsense trainer. Her balanced approach gives you the knowledge and confidence to work with your dog and his/her individual needs. If you’re looking to improve your relationship/situation with your current dog or start a new one with a puppy successfully I would highly recommend Melissa.

I brought my dog Nero to Melissa looking to fine tune his training and to learn from an experienced trainer. We had some basic obedience going in, but my goal was to have him be reliable on a recall so I could give him lots of freedom. Nero was also reactive to bikers, joggers, and some dogs which wasn't a surprise being a herding mix. Within the first couple lessons Melissa gave us the tools and tricks for Nero to not focus on dogs and focus more on me, and with a couple weeks of practice he now ignores dogs when we walk by them. We also learned how to make his heel better, have rules around the car, faster recalls, and lots of other fun stuff. By our last lesson Nero could be off-leash around bikes and would stay in a down as they passed, although in a relatively low distraction area he did very well and we'll work towards high distraction areas. We had lots of fun training with Melissa and learned lots. We'll have more to work on and will be sure to be back. Nero and I definitely recommend Melissa and BC Westcoast K9 for obedience training and if you want to give your dog off-leash freedom.

I would undoubtedly recommend Melissa and BC Westcoast K9 Services if you are looking for a very knowledgable dog trainer within the Vancouver area. Melissa has helped our two year old Czech x German Shepherd come on leaps and bounds since she started having lessons. We love that Melissa provides you with all the tools you need to continue training at home. We are also big fans of the raw food that Melissa offers, Roxy loves it and her coat is shiner than ever!

Melissa and her team have been amazing to work with. When Olive, our high drive Australian Cattle Dog puppy, turned one year old she started to become very dog and human reactive, and we knew we needed professional help. In only a couple lessons, we learned the tools and skills that made a world of difference. Would definitely recommend their training.
