Coughlan Homes

This is our second home through Coughlan. The quality of work has deteriorated quite substantially. We paid extra to upgrade our kitchen cabinets and many of them were installed with scratched and damaged floor trims. Six years later the whole kitchen is falling apart. The floor joists are causing loud squeaking noises when anyone is walking upstairs in the bedrooms and hallway. These deficiencies we're all pointed out through Tarion but with very minor and unsatisfactory touch ups and fixes.

5 stars: Family’s experience at the decor centre.Dillon provides EXCELLENT customer service and goes above and beyond in assisting us select our decor. He made sure we were completely satisfied with all the decor combos. Dillon fully gives his time and attention to his clients and shows he genuinely cares.I also have to add that Lisa was very warm, friendly, and understanding when providing her services for us when we were finalizing our decor.Updated review after living in home for 2 years-1 Star: I understand the builder rushed to finish the homes as they were behind schedule and most buyers’ closing dates were extended 3 times. The home didn’t meet our standards as it did not have a clean finished look. There were scratched and dents on cabinets, missing screws on handles, paint drips, bad paint job throughout home. Even wall/ceiling areas did not have a clean straight line. Our steps did not get stained properly amongst many other disappointments.Another review indicated a “few bad apples” are bringing down Coughlan’s Google review ratings. I disagree, we shouldn’t compare experiences and say mine is the right one. This platform is to share our own unique, unbiased review. Our family didn’t experience good customer service. Items we put on our warranty weren’t completed and the site supervisor said excuses to not fix those issues. HOWEVER, suddenly after we scheduled a Tarion inspection he was able to complete the same exact things he avoided getting fixed very quickly. During one of the visits to fix one of the three outstanding items he made a comment that he’s here to get it fixed since we have our Tarion inspection coming up in a sarcastic tone.What was the most disturbing moment was having the VP say to us that our windowsills are so smooth that we can skate on them - when clearly it was such poor work. They make you feel like you’re wrong and uncomfortable to speak up about the work they are paid to do.

I am a first time home buyer and bought my first with Coughlan Homes in their Enclave development in Ajax.Coughlan have some great staffs such as Lisa at the sales centre, Shannon at customer service. Barry and Mike at after sales team.Why five stars? Despite 2021/2022 construction labor strike and supply chain challenges, my house was only delayed by couple of months! While other developer encountered much longer delay.For a brand new house - does that mean it has zero issues? Of course not. It has the typical problems any new house encounter (dry wall, trim, finishes). The team is fair in dealing with the deficiency. They are following Tarion guidelines in resolving issues. It may take longer in light of continued labor issue in GTA, but they are on top of the issues and ensure that issues are resolved.Any emergency was dealt with immediately - one day I lost heat and Barry showed up the next morning 730AM,and the HVAC crew was on site by lunch to complete the repair.Coughlan is a reputable builder, have been around for many years, with clean Tarion record. This is as good as builder gets in home industry.

I brought a home in phase 3 of this site, yes there was a delay in closing but it was Mother Nature builder not to be blame. When ever you by any house new or resale there will always be problems nothing is perfect. My experience with this builder was fantastic from the sales office, decor center to PDI even after closing, sure there was some problem after I had moved in but they came and fix everything within reasonable time frame. The house needs to settle this can take up to 5 years so you will get cracks in the ceilings and walls this is only natural, I have had many builders before and if I was to rank this builder out of 10 I would give them a 9.5 thank you Couglan for a great jod.

Coughlan Homes has made purchasing our first home a breeze! Lisa was the one we stayed in contact with leading up to our home being built and she's both responsive with our numerous questions and friendly with our decor appointment. Would definitely recommend for others to go with this builder, you won't be disappointed.

I bought a house from Coughlan Homes 3 years ago in one of their new developments. Since that time they have fixed my roof more than 3 times. Most recently I have had more damage to the roof and they are telling me that it is not covered after 3 years and if I want, I can use their shoddy trade that they use to fix my roof again. I want person to see what they are getting for their hard earn money. NO VALUE!. I wish that I could post all the pictures of the roof here. I would never buy another house from Coughlan Homes.

I am so happy that we decided to purchase a Coughlan Home for our family! Our experience has been wonderful from the start and their staff are always ready and eager to help whenever an issue comes up. With all new homes there will be minor issues that need attention when you move in but the Coughlan team is always there when you need them . It's a shame that a few bad apples can ruin the google rating - I hope that more happy customers like me share the positive experience they've had with this company!

Coughlan Homes failed to address, Jesivan Jegatheesan, whom they are currently employing. I had complained to the HR manager, Andrea Laws, who did not action anything even though multiple police incident reports were provided against him. This individual continues to stalk me daily yet they are protecting Jesivan, also known as Jesi. I do not recommend Coughlan homes whom do not take professionalism seriously with potential clients. This is to inform the public and current employees who work with ‘Jesi’ about his criminal background and his on-going harassment abilities.

This builder had very good reviews from the first two phases in Duffins Village. However in this 3rd phase, it has been nightmarish for the new home owners. It seems that there was an initial delay in the site preparation due to the weather and instead of pushing back the closing dates, this builder chooses to sacrifice quality to make up time.Move than a week after I got the keys to my house, there were still no mirrors installed in any of the washrooms of the house, there were missing door handles, missing shelves in the kitchen cabinets, missing door to the master shower, warped wall, missing tiles, no concrete floor in garage, couldn't close the garage doors or store anything in my garage, screw holes and poor finish on the hardwood stairs, unpainted trims in doorways, unfinished concrete at main entrance patio, garbage under the carpet, return air duct vent covered up by carpet installer, missing electrical outlets and many other deficiencies.It is very disappointing

I just bought a house from Coughlan in May 2022. First of all, too many issues in the house. We have plumbing issue in our all of washroom and the builder refused to fix it. Our washroom cabinet are getting swollen because of water leakage. It's been 20 days we are in the house and their customer service is tooooo bad.The PDI representative had a zero knowledge and doesn't even know how to operate a thermostat. The paint was done unprofessional way, no smooth touch. It looks like someone just started learning the paint yesterday and Coughlan hire them. The walls have cracks, floor titles and washroom titles are uneven, not aligned. I can watch a YouTube and do better then them. The wooden floor has squeezy noise when walk, gaps in wooden floor, rough wood floor,. The Kitchen and washroom titles have chemical stains, grouting was not done properly.There is alot of other issues but I wouldn't buy my future house with them. Don't recommend to buy from them.***Stay away from this builder. ***
