In summary our immigration lawyer was amazing and extremely helpful. We went into this experience stressed and nervous and Meina (our lawyer) reassured us and walk us through the entire process. She let us ask a million questions, answered all our texts and emails promptly and even understood our financial situation and worked with us on it. Without our lawyer we would be still working on the paperwork because immigration Canada is not user friendly and makes things overly complicated.
