Our experience was nothing more than a disappointment and disaster.I truly wish I could post pictures on here.In early May of this year this company was contracted by our builder to put siding , soffit, and facia on our home.Problems started right away and the owner Morey ( if I’ve spelt his name correctly), his workers, and our builder attended our home.As a previous siding installer myself, I indicated many things that were sloppy and just very poor workmanship. The things I indicated were “ going to be fixed” apparently.Re-examining the workmanship a couple of days later, not only were the things not fixed, but more issues persisted. Again a meeting with the owner, his workers, and our builder! The things I indicated ( old and new) were “ going to be fixed”.They never were fixed and our builder had to bring in an alternate company to fix everything after they were “apparently “done. What were the things to be fixed ?1). J Channel around all windows and doors had gaps and were not cut precisely and were just all in all sloppy.2). Window / door/ vent/ electrical box/ “ Dams” were sloppy, not sealed, not angled at a 6 degree slope downward ( according to Alberta Building Code ) , and had “raw “,protruding edges that you could slice yourself open on !3). Facia flashings were too short but installed anyways, leaving approximately 1” of raw 2x6 ( under the shingles) exposed to the elements. If I hadn’t been paying attention to this ,the eaves trough would have been installed ,and from the ground you’d never see it ! Suffice to say both our builder and I caught this.If I’m not mistaken the Alberta Building Code requires at least one layer of protection from the elements. Our builder rectified this at his own cost.4). Loose siding and J Channel. Not enough nails were used to secure it and a 2 year old could pull it away from the wall.5). The Corner posts on our front entry did not extend to encompass the full height of our siding.6). The Corner post for our deck did not extend to the soffit and facia, but cut short approximately a 8” below it . Let’s just invite rain in to rot the wood underneath right !7). The siding cutouts around vents/ pipes protruding from the house were very sloppy and some had a half inch of airspace between the vent/pipe. Note that siding does expand and contract, but a half inch on the top or bottom of a Sheet is ridiculous. 1/8 “would suffice top and bottom, 1/4 tops , for the sideways movement.8). Here’s the kicker,... If you are not aware , you should be informed. Tyvek ( House wrap) that is used today instead of tar paper for waterproofing your outside walls is to be taped ( with the proper house wrap tape). P.S. - not the blue tape !All vertical seams and protrusions from your house ( IE. vents, windows, hose bibs, doors, electrical outlets) are to be taped. The horizontal seams are recommended to be taped by DuPont ( who makes Tyvek) but a 4” overlap of horizontals will allow better breathing for your home if its applied from bottom to top ( in a watershed fashion) .WE HAD NO TAPE APPLIED ON ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY . Pictures tell a thousand words !End of story ?????,Our builder brought in a company to fix everything. I can’t say enough about this new company , but to say here how very pleased we are with them. Everything was fixed to our satisfaction. Our builders cost to hire this new company to fix our siding was not deducted from this companies invoice ,to my understanding. And to alleviate us from this companies legal department, and a builders lien he paid it in full.We have a class act for a builder, but this company is an absolute disgrace for not doing the right thing. In my opinion, I would stay far away from this siding company .If I could post this with “0” stars I would. In my opinion, this is a struggling company that doesn’t seem to be concerned with workmanship, but more of a company that makes excuses and promises and you’ll not be pleased by hiring them.Sincerely,Jay Doucet.
