I thought my guitar sounded pretty sweet before. Went in for a minor repair, knowing I some other small issues. Sean quickly found them and made my little guitar sing! Sean is an artist, striving for precision and exquisite sound. His service is truly classic, pleasing and personal. thanks so much, Sean.

Sean took very good care of my vintage Strat. I brought it to him for new frets but it had several other age-related issues that Sean identified and fixed. He always provided options for repairs and modifications, explaining the consequences of each proposed action. His recommendations were always well thought out and resulted in performance-enhancing improvements. I would not hesitate to bring my guitar back to Sean for any kind of repair, small or large.

On 08/01/14, I took Sean's 4 hour guitar set up course. I wanted to learn how to repair and fine tune my four guitars. Sean is a true professional and gives a lot of attention to detail. He did a great job on my Takamene (Tacky) acoustic guitar. He also fine tuned my Rosey and Blondy guitars as well. I would not hesitate referring you to my musician friends.I'm a singer/song writer. I need my guitars well tuned & sounding like singing Angels.Keep your business open Sean for guys like me.Your new friend, Bobby Bricks.

I just had a world-class set up for one of my guitars from luthier Sean Thompson in Ottawa. Sean does an amazing job and he goes out of his way explain the details involved. His work is highly skillful and meticulous. Each time he works on one of my guitars I am really pleased with how it plays afterwards. I would happily recommend Sean to any guitarist looking for a guitar builder and/or repair work. Thanks again Sean!

Music is both my passion and the median through which I make most of my living, as I teach and perform both solo and in groups (In-young Jazz Band, Justin Duhaime Trio, Room to Groove).Since acquiring my Eastman El Rey ER-2 back in 2010 I have done most adjustments myself, as taking it to a tech resulted in little change other than a fresh set of strings and an updated intonation. After fighting with some mild fret buzz for some time, I decided to take it to Sean's shop to see what could be done, expecting a bit of fret dressing and little else. Sean, without any pressure, suggested a variety of possible routes and explained the relevance of each in terms of expectations and performance changes. He also gave me feedback from an assessment which he performed on the spot and claimed that, despite what I had believed, my action was MUCH higher than what he could aim to achieve, despite the fact that I was fighting with fret buzz.I made the decision to leave it in his hands and have him do the World Class setup and, rest assured, I have never been happier with this instrument. The playability, intonation, clarity, musicality and electronics have all exceeded my expectations. Since getting my instrument back, I haven't been able to put it down and it has reinvigorated my practice and recording; I am finally making progress at the rate that I should be expecting of myself. Do yourself a favour and make an investment in yourself and your instrument by taking it to Sean - this will certainly assure you that you will end up with an instrument that is performing the way it should and in the a manner appropriate to your taste.

I brought Sean my 2003 Warwick corvette standard made in Germany. It had a brutal twist in the neck and the truss was broken. I took it to three other luthiers before Sean and they all refused to work on it; they suggested contacting Warwick directly, who then quoted me $1200 before shipping. I went to Sean as a last resort. Like everyone else, he did confirm that the neck was beyond repair. However, he did provide a solution: rebuild the neck to the exact specifications of the old one, and improve on the design. in the end, I got an amazing new neck, the best I've ever played on. This guy is an artist when it comes to luthier work. I wouldn't recommend anyone else BUT him. Thanks bud!

I took the 4-hour setup course offered by Sean. He has a great amount of knowledge on this subject and has worked this into a well-structured system. It's inspiring to see and play some of his creations as well. All the specifics on what he is teaching you are also captured in a nicely detailed written guide that comes with the course, so you don't have to be taking notes during the session and can instead focus on learning directly, which was great. We ended up going way overtime and he was still fine with taking the time to make sure I understood everything involved in the setup before I left.Overall I would definitely recommend it, I learned a lot from it

Sean worked tirelessly to make both my acoustic and electric guitars as happy as the day they came home with me from the hospital... I meant guitar shop. I fully trust him to do a very thorough job and you should too! The man is a guitar savant.

Sean took really good care of my guitar! He spent hours on upgrading a lower end tele for me, now it looks and feels comparable to a higher end one. His attention to detail is like no other. For the amount of time and effort he spends on the guitars he works on, the customer always wins! Great guy and great work!
