South Side Animal Hospital

The staff at South Side have been incredibly helpful and kind! They were very reasonable and knowledgeable and made sure our daughters’ Guinea Pig was very well taken care of. We don’t live close to that area of the city but the family feeling and the love that the staff have for animals makes the drive to South Side absolutely worth it for our family!

I have to thank the staff at south side vet for putting up with my panther cat, Pitch. Pitch got sick last week and due to poor timing I was unfortunately out of town and needed to board him somewhere that would also give him his medications. South side took him in that same day to my relief.Pitch was not a happy camper but with some stress relieving meds he came around and the girls actually got to meet my happy boy. They truly did all the work and I’m so grateful. Thank you

My very old hamster started showing signs of the end a couple weeks ago. It got bad after a couple days and I had to take him in to get put to sleep. I was devastated and nervous from past uncomfortable and traumatic vet visits at other clinics. I called and they assured me that he would be in the best hands and he was. I brought him in and they proceeded to be very patient and thoughtful with us. It made a bad day a little easier. A couple days later I received a card from them with additional sympathies written. I appreciate whole heartedly the care and compassion they put in for my Cheerio. Thank you South Side Animal Hospital.

A phenomenal team of vets, techs, assistants, and office staff. Always such a warm, welcoming environment for any kind of appointment. They take the time to get to know you and your baby. I personally appreciate how they always ensure my concerns are heard and that they take the time to educate me on their plan.

Our experience with South Side Animal Hospital was nothing less than amazing!We had one of our rabbits spayed here and the staff were very kind and considerate throughout the entire process; since rabbits are considered exotic pets, it was difficult to find many clinics that would accept ours.Prior to bringing our rabbit into the clinic, all of the costs were transparently discussed along with additional products and services that could be a benefit. The prices are very reasonable compared to other clinics.When our rabbit was discharged, they provided us with all of necessary care instructions and followed up with the condition of our rabbit, along with providing supplementary information that helped our rabbit recover more comfortably.Post recovery, I had also inspected the surgery site to see that it was done very clean.Our rabbit is happy and healthy now; I was surprised to receive a card that even encouraged our endeavors to bond our rabbits even though I had only mentioned that objective very briefly!I would highly recommend this clinic for lagomorphs and any other exotic species of animals that they accept!

I have been a client of SS since 1992. Even though I have moved out into the country I continue to bring my furry children to the location. The team of docs and assistants, techs etc. are just fantastic. Friendly, reassuring and warm during those difficult times, they have always made my kitties feel welcome and always provide them the very best care I could imagine. I couldn't think of going anywhere else!

Ever since renovations took place I have been more than disappointed with the level of care here. For fifteen years I had taken my Portie here and he received excellent care. When he was at the end of his life journey and required attention I had to wait two weeks before he could get an appointment. I had to go elsewhere to deal with end of life. I found reception to be indifferent to the situation.Last year my other canine developed a bladder infection. I found that although the level of care was quite good and the vet was attentive, it was very expensive and that additional tests like blood work were being unnecessarily pushed when realistically all that was required were antibiotics. I found the price just to get him through the door prohibitive. I again found reception to be aloof regarding the situation.Recently while trying to book an annual exam I found that the price for this service was very expensive and booked elsewhere for much cheaper. When I mentioned that the price of services was making it prohibitive to own a dog, I again found reception to be indifferent. When I called back to cancel the appointment because I was able to find an annual exam cheaper elsewhere I was put on hold for several minutes. When reception did connect the call there were staff laughing out loud and reception had no problem easily cancelling the appointment.I will not be returning here again but I do need to mention that Dr. Steele who saw me the most often over the years is a very compassionate vet. I am not sure whether it was the renovations that resulted in the increased price of services but that is probably the case. Regardless, the staff at the front end will keep me from returning.

Went here last year, and it was great. They made sure my rabbit was comfortable, and provided a room for him to be relaxed. They treated my rabbit so very gently, he was very comfortable and relaxed the whole time at the veterinary office despite generally not liking strangers and seeing many strangers. I’m very grateful.
