Dawson Kennels

After several different kennel experiences and quite a bit of leg work, we have settled our girls here. We absolutely love Dawson Kennels. I love that it is always the Mother or Daughter on duty. They know our dogs very well and always have very personalized feedback about how the girls did during their stay, which always makes me feel as though they’ve been very thoroughly cared for. They are always in excellent shape when they come home - clean, happy, and tired after their play times. We highly recommend!

Have been using Dawson Kennels for many years and wouldn't dream of going somewhere else. Staff here are so attentive and get to know the dogs and families. They notice changes in animal health/behaviour from visit to visit. Our dog enjoys himself here so much that when we come to get him he often greets us then wants to go right back to being with the rest of the dogs.

Dawson Kennels had full confidence that our reactive dog would be happy staying with them and they were right!! Every other kennel would call us to come pick up our dog after 15min but at Dawson's she actually plays and made friends! She also comes home smelling good!We had an emergency not long ago and Dawson Kennels helped us, no questions asked, and kenneled our pup for almost two weeks! They said if she ran out of her specialty food they'd go out buy her some more no problem!We never thought we'd have a safe fun place for our reactive dog but Dawson's have been incredible in every way! We are so grateful!

We had boarded our pet with Dawson's on several occasions and had been very happy with them until our last experience. Our dog got injured and I noticed blood in her fur when we brought her home. I took her to our vet and contacted Dawson Kennels immediately. I will say they handled the matter and paid the vet bill. We understand that dogs will be dogs and also that accidents can happen. So everything was fine until we tried to board her again yesterday. And all I can say is wow! Many will say, how can you go back to a facility where your pet got injured. Well because it wasn't life threatening and easily missed where the injury was. The kennel did the right thing and we had never had a problem before. This time instead of being professional and thanking us for trying to trust them enough to leave our pet with them again and telling us they would make sure it would be a good experience...this happened. First off, the booking was accepted. Then we got a call back stating, oops they forgot to tell us that their rates increased. Checked their website and guess what, no rate increase. I immediately got a bad feeling about things and guessed they were upping our rate to recoup their cost for the last vet bill. Then we got a call stating that they were having renovations done and that their daughter who booked us would not have been aware of it even though she's the one who always seems to be at the desk doing bookings and accepting pets upon arrival, hmmm they wouldn't tell her about closures? So therefore, the dates we were looking to kennel her for were unavailable. We had a friend call them the next day to try to book their dog and guess what...yup, no rate increase and they dates were available. WOW! HOW UNPROFESSIONAL! We were willing to give them another chance and this is how we were treated. As far as my husband and I are concerned they are liars and not to be trusted with the care of any pet. If they did not want to kennel our dog again because of what happened, the mother should have been adult enough to just say they were sorry but due to what had happened that it may be best for all parties involved that we find another kennel to board her with or better yet, why not just make sure our valuable pet would be better looked after and they would be glad to have the chance to prove they were a good kennel. Instead it was all handled in this ridiculously unbecoming unprofessional manner. All I can say is pet owners beware!

I’ve been taking my dog to Dawson Kennels for a year and a half now. The staff are beyond wonderful and made me feel so at ease leaving my pup with them. When I am dropping Charlie off, her tail starts wagging as soon as we pull in the driveway. I highly recommend Dawson’s and will continue to take my dog there every time I’m out of town.

We've taken our dogs here a few times. We're going away for a longer trip this summer and we trust Dawson Kennels to look after our ol' mutts better than anyone else.

We think Dawson is fantastic! We have been there quite a few times over the years. We had three dogs for many years and they were always really good with them. If there was any kind of issue (which there was once, while we were in Texas), not only did they contact us, they also contacted our daughter (another satisfied customer), because she lives just outside Winnipeg and we were far away. They treated our three dogs like family and were always happy to accommodate us whether for a night or three weeks. Lots of space and a completely fenced facility. They are also really terrific people and live on-site. Highly recommended for any and all breeds, sizes and ages. Even stand-offish or shy dogs, seem to blossom there. Great place.

It is the best boarding kennel in Winnipeg. Owners are very involved with dogs in their facility. They provide supreme service well above your expectations. My dogs were very happy and properly looked after. Great job Dowson Kennels!

We used Dawson Kennels for boarding our chocolate lab Ozzie. He went there for many years when we weren’t doing “dog friendly” activities such as camping or going to the cottage. When he went to Dawson Kennels it was either for an overnight, a weekend, or a 7-14 day vacation and we absolutely knew he was having fun, being exercised, being fed properly etc.(We brought them his own food at the time..our choice)...they also gave him his vitamins and any meds he may have been taking at the time when he needed them no worries to us. They’re just wonderful people! Dawson Kennels have a large indoor play yard and a large outdoor play yard for the dogs. They’re super clean and very well organized!. We liked that they put the dogs together for play/exercise that “got along” together. (size, temperament etc). Ozzie was large and he also got along with their own family dogs too!I know that if we were to get another dog he’d be going to Dawson Kennels as well. Its always piece of mind when he was there. We never had to worry about Ozzie or go through “which friend can we call to look after the dog”? when our holiday time came around. Our fur boy couldn’t wait to get there and really didnt want to leave there at pick up!!
