Schempp Renos

We hired Schempp Renovations to design and construct a 3 piece bathroom in our basement.The whole process was within budget and on time. Erik was professional and great to work with. We would definitely use Schempp Renovations for any future home projects.

Erik and the team at Schempp Renos did an AMAZING job on our kitchen/main floor renovation! We honestly could not be happier. Erik truly made our vision come to life. Not only is everything beautiful and exactly what we wanted, but the attention to detail was incredible. When you’re trusting someone with a big reno, you want to know that they care and take the time to do things right. We wouldn’t trust anyone else! We can’t wait for Erik and the team to come back for our upstairs reno!

Schempp Renovations was recommended to us to rebuild our deck, and we could not be happier with the results. We met to discuss options; they listened to what we wanted, and made suggestions that were better than anything we thought of -- and suggested a beautiful privacy fence. Schempp Renovations was hired to complete a remodel of our 1000 square foot bungalow in 2018. We had never remodeled a home before so we had put a lot of trust in Schempp Renovations. He had quoted us at a very reasonable price for the materials and labour so we decided to hire him.Schempp renovations assembled and installed IKEA cabinets, put down new hardwood floors, did a bathroom remodel, tile work at the front door and backsplash in the kitchen, as well as installed a gas fireplace.Overall the work was satisfactory (hence 3 stars).Schempp Renovations, in our experience, did not complete the remodel with attention to detail, as he proclaims to 'pride' himself on.The timelines of our project were not clearly communicated and in the end, work was rushed.As advised by friends and family who have been through a renovation, we withheld approx. 5% of the final payment to see how everything 'settled.' 2 weeks after we noticed paint touch-ups that needed to be done and the brand new grout at our front door was cracking. We were disappointed but hadn't had any major concerns yet so we figured that if we expressed our concerns, they would be addressed.We reached out to Erik Schempp several times via email explaining what we would like to be completed in order for him to be sent his final payment. We heard crickets.In the end, he never returned to complete his work so we never sent the outstanding balance. Subsequently, Erik Schempp left the work permit with the City of Guelph open. Something we didn't realize would occur since we had never been through this process prior. Being the home owner, our names, as well as his company are on the permit. However, it is the home owner's responsibility to close the permit. We found out after the fact.In a nutshell, you get what you pay for, or in our case, sometimes don't.

We hired Schempp Renovations in Spring 2021 to resurface our deck. Erik and Brody were very wonderful to work with and the result was simply stunning! Erik paid great attention to detail and the quality of the work was exceptional.The entire process was very streamlined and he finished the project ahead of time and well within the quote.All in all a very pleasant experience and we will be working with him again.

If there was a higher rating than 5 stars I would be giving it to Schempp Renovations.My first project with Erik was in July 2019 when he completely finished my basement putting in a bedroom, semi-ensuite bathroom, laundry room and large living space. An additional main bathroom was also completed on the second floor. That job was under a huge time constraint and Erik managed that project from start to finish, staying on time and on budget. He worked with me helping me make decisions when asked, always keeping me informed with what was going on and finding economical solutions to whatever was asked or suggested. He is honest and calm and extremely easy to work with and is always so helpful when asked for his advice or input. I had to call Erik to fix a problem that I had just before the house went on the market, which was a pre-existing condition that Erik’s work had nothing to do with, however, in his professional and understanding nature he came immediately and fixed the problem for me without hesitation. The basement looked amazing when it was finished and as a direct result of the completed work I was given a huge advantage for selling the house as it was now “turnkey”.March 2021- I have just completed my second major project with Schempp Renovations and once again they were amazing. Every deadline that needed to be met was completed on time and every part of the project was on budget. It was an extensive project that involved complete guts and renovations on my kitchen, main bathroom, laundry room and powder room-- as well as changing flooring in the basement, building finished maple stairs from the basement to the first floor, pot lights in the beamed ceiling of the living room, converting a walk in closet to a single barn door and built in storage in basement.All of this was done during Covid -- with lockdown during part of it -- and Erik was always careful and followed all restrictions and guidelines so that I always felt safe with him working in my home. Erik is helpful and a pleasure to work with. I would call him “unflappable” as he has a very reassuring and calm manner, always gets things done, finds a solution for everything that arises and completes the projects on time and on budget. He takes pride in his work and it shows with the end result. I would highly recommend Erik and Schempp Renovations for any job and will continue to use them whenever I need projects done. I am a very happy repeat client.

We had Erik and his team redo our deck last Summer (2019) after we bought our house.
