My partner and I came to Vancouver to watch a performance downtown and volunteer at a local charity. I booked on Expedia and I ended up paying about 240$ for 2 nights by the beach.Parking:There is a small underground parkade down the alley to the south of the building (there is no access from the residential road that we could find but we turned left off of the main street.) Parking was fairly cheap and the person at the counter was very helpful. I had seen another review say the parkade was “creepy” but that was not the case for us; It’s quite a tight fit and down a very steep ramp - but as two people from Alberta where the roads are made for cars and semis everything in Vancouver is a tight squeeze! The main garage door is locked from the outside which made me feel safe that our car would be fine. Access from the parkade to the hotel is just up a flight of stairs and into a side door. Parking is first come first serve. 4/5Service:The staff were very kind and attentive. They answered all of my questions since this was my first time being the person to book and pay for a hotel! I couldn’t have been happier with the service I received. 5/5Amenities:Our room (which was the cheapest I could get) had a very small but nice clean bathroom which was well stocked but lacking a counter/shelf for my partner to put his contacts in, this wasn’t too big of a deal as there was a cabinet right outside the bathroom in a little walk in closet kind of area. The water pressure was fantastic and got up to my ideal temperature of near lava. Our room also had a kitchen with stove top, coffee maker, microwave, and fridge. There is an elevator if you can’t take the stairs to the higher floors but it was kind of finicky and the door sometimes wouldn’t close fully the first time and it would have to reopen and close again before it would go. There was also a coffee maker fully stocked in the lobby. 4/5Room:The room was large and had AC, two beds (one queen and one twin), a TV, a dining table for two, a vanity/dresser type thing, a walk in closet, a washroom far from the sleeping area and buffered by the closet so you couldn’t hear what was going on in there, and a kitchen. Overall the room was nice and clean but quite dated. We only slept in the queen sized bed but I chilled on the twin both days and it was quite comfy. The beds were on wheels (I’m guessing for ease of cleaning) and I accidentally smashed my foot into one of the wheels at least 4 times. The queen bed was also firm and comfortable but squeaky and I felt like I might have bothered my downstairs neighbours just by adjusting my sleep position. The floor was carpet which my partner didn’t like but I couldn’t be bothered. I had seen some other reviews saying the room smelled “old” or “mildewy” but again I didn’t have this problem and everything was clean. I did find an old water bottle in one of the vanity drawers but it was a weird area and I was snooping around and it’s honestly not something I’d expect to be cleaned between each guest so I wasn’t bothered. The walls had a few skuff marks and places the paint had flaked off. Our view was nice but if you have a molten hot shower make sure to crack the window open so it doesn’t condense! We couldn’t hear our neighbours but we could hear people moving in the hallway occasionally. 3/5Location:This is the BEST part. We were literally a two minute walk from the English Bay beach, the entire block has lots of bars and food places of all types (the See the Sea (?) Pizza was really great after having a few drinks) and we were also connected to a Mediterranean food place that was filling and cheap. There is a Starbucks on the corner, at least two pubs, and I’m pretty sure I saw a convenience store all on the same block as the hotel. We also saw a performance downtown and it was only a twenty minute walk back to our hotel so we decided to skip the Uber! 5/5TLDR: If I was going on my own I would stay here again! It was cheap and in a great location but a bit dated and the bed squeaks. Staff were fantastic. :))

Exactly as the other reviewers stated. Best location in Vancouver, excellent dollar value. Dated rooms but clean and comfortable beds. Convenient to everything a traveller or tourist would need. I enjoyed our stay here, I have no complaints and would stay here again.

It was a bit hard to give a 4 out of 5, but the GREAT location makes this the best value-hotel in Vancouver. I was grateful to have read reviews so I knew what I was getting into. Halls are stinky, rooms are very dated and the windows a bit digusting. But we had a great view, beds were comfortable, staff were kind, our room was large and the kitchen was a bonus. Good choice for the budget-minded traveler.

This hotel has all the necessities you'd want. Clean beds, bedsheets, bathroom, working air conditioning, parking, and lastly, it's an amazing location by the beach. It's an older building and will feel dated, but not sketchy. For the price you're paying for compared to competing places, this is an absolute steal.

Excellent location, close to tourist destinations and public transportation. $10 Uber ride to Canada Place port. Old apartment building converted to hotel. Rooms are clean, but a bit dated. Multiple restaurants share the building, and smells do waft into the hallway, but I didn't notice it in the room. Highly recommend for a layover before sailing out of Vancouver.

We saw a mouse twice and went to talk to the front desk about it. The only solutions given were to add more traps or switch rooms. Both solutions seemed inadequate all things considered and so we avoided being in the hostel, putting all of our belongings on higher ground. When we went to talk to the front desk again to talk to someone else, they claimed the price that this is apparently worthwhile and comparable to others in the area. Beware, for you pay to stay here, apparently mice are included in the price.

We saw a mouse twice in the days leading up to check-out. When we expressed these concerns to the front desk, the only solutions offered were to either switch rooms or “add more traps” to our current room. Both solutions seemed inadequate considering the possibility of more encounters. Instead, we avoided the hostel aside from sleeping and put all of our belongings on higher ground. When we went to talk to the front desk again at check-out to reiterate our concerns, he claimed that the price we paid (~$1400 for 7 nights) was worthwhile and comparable to other hotels in the area. Beware: for what you pay to stay here, apparently mice are included in the price.

The room is far from clean. Stains are everywhere, and the carpet is dirty. Beding was fresh and clean, same as towels. Thank you for that. The location is amazing, I liked the option to go to the beach or have a long walk in Stanley park.

Don't judge a book by its cover. Although it needs a lick of paint externally and a bit of a refurb in the public areas the rooms are good. Plenty of space and well equipped if a little dated. Shower and bathroom are fine with plenty of hot water clean towels etc. All the staff we have encountered have been pleasant and helpful. There is a good laundry room available with large machines and tumble dryer. At $2 for a wash and the same cost for one hour dry it's good value.

So after ready the reviews I was hesitant but honestly couldn’t bet the price. For the price it’s the best value all around. Yes rooms are dated, the hotel is older, but they are clean and beds are comfortable. Not sure I’d stay here with kids but for a place to sleep between activities highly recommend. The proximity to the beach, shopping, food and transit is excellent. (Even from the airport east to get to using public transit)Will stay here again
