Dr Jonathan Tankel

Today my daughter-in-law saw Dr Tankel and left very upset, and disappointed. This is her first pregnancy and it has been a very upsetting first experience with a doctor.This doctor who is highly educated obviously, seems to have no personal touch or social skills. He barely looked up from his computer when speaking to her and made her feel like she was hurting her baby if she didn’t blindly follow everything he dictated which included going as far as saying he wouldn’t provide any help if her choices caused her baby to have problems in the future. Seriously?! Obviously he has no regard for who she is or he’d know that everything she has been doing during this pregnancy is to ensure her baby has the utmost care and everything it needs to be born healthy. How dare you jump to this conclusion without properly counselling your patient and even trying to get to know her. You expect patients to blindly take all your advice but don’t have the decency to look at them? You expect a woman to be extremely vulnerable when having a physical exam but you don’t take into consideration some sense of relationship may help them trust you? How can you be so smart and so dumb all at the same time?It’s not a surprise that when posting this review that I’ve seen many other one star reviews. Shame on you.

My wife has so far had a terrible experience with Dr Tankel and his staff. For starters, his receptionist is always rude. Then you wait about 3 hours everytime you have a scheduled appointment. I work at the RAH NICU so I understand emergency situations that can take priority, but 3 hour waits for a scheduled appointment are absurd. I am also not allowed to attend visits with my wife even though she wants me there to help ask questions.My wife has left crying from every single appointment she has had with this Dr so far. Horrible bedside manner as he won't even look at my wife when she talks to him or asks questions. And if you do happen to ask a question with hopes of learning or getting more information, he gets extremely defensive because of his massive ego. Instead of talking her through the importance of his recommendation, he resorts to telling her that negative outcomes due to not following his advice lies solely on her. What a disgusting thing to say to a first time mom trying to learn, ask questions and make an informed decision. He so flippantly dismisses concerns and then answers questions like a politician.If you are referred to this clinic, save yourself the wait time, stress and condescending conversations with an egotistical doc who has no bedside manner or concern for his patients.I understand Dr Tankel is experienced but if this is how far his practice has fallen, maybe it's time to retire and save parents from experiences like this.

Hi Dr. Tankel! It’s me Bailey Standingready’s mom. Holly Standingready. I went through a hard pregnancy with Bailey. Oligohydraminos. Was told I was going to lose her. Hospital wanted her out way before it was time. She was born a premie. But is now 10, 5’2. 105 pounds. No health issues that premies have. There is no better dr to fight for your baby than Dr. Tankel. Thank you. Techillia, pidamaye.

I’ve been seeing Tankel off and on for 5 years about. At one point I felt we were clashing a lot and not getting along and agreeing on treatment options for my endometriosis.However when I called after not seeing him for over a year and told his nurse I was a previous patient; explained I wasn’t happy with care and was currently pregnant and experiencing contractions at 24 weeks, and on bed rest and desperate to see THIS doctor, they called me back hours later and told me he’d take me on without a referral.I have never felt so relieved for a doctor to Agree to see me after I all but told him I don’t want him as my doctor anymore. But his bedside manner is awesome and the fact that he’s agreed to add me into his busy schedule and help me is an honest to god blessing. I have never felt so relieved that not only will he be my delivering doctor but he will also listen to me about my pregnancy concerns and treat me fairly. Great nurses, Great office.

TLDR. Dr is nice and good but hard to see.You can only talk to his assistant Veronica who does nothing but stress you with every call. Its like trying to get a claim on insurances, shes there to make it difficult and make you lose interest.Dr Tankel is really good and nice according to my wifewe dont mind him being late as life is unpredictable.But he is hard to see or book an appointment to himWhat you get to talk to is Veronica, the assistant.With each and every call, She did nothing but stress my wife during my wifes pregnancy. No matter how nice and pleading your voice is, she is nothing but rude. She lies about calling you back, she lies about what she says, she denies any fault she made.She told my wife that my wife had low HCG despite the result is normal online and according to ER Doctor.She told my wife that my wife had higher thyroid despite the Dr himself said that it is lower.When were losing the baby doesnt have any empathy and was still rude to the bone. Talking to her would put any pregnant person at risk due the stress she gives you. You are already stress and she just multiplies it. I recommend recording your conversation with her and play it back to her when she denies her statement.I would give this place 1 star but my wife says Dr is nice and good but well never come back after this ordeal. We got nothing but more stress.

He's been my OBGYN for over 22 years and delivered my two kids. He's just fantastic. Are you going to have to wait to see him, probably, heck, maybe hours....but he's worth it.

Dr. Tankel was fantastic to have as an OB! He is a wonderful person with great bedside manner. Sometimes appointment times ran late but he is well worth the wait. Would recommend time and time again!

Hands down best OB in town!!! Dr.Tankel delivered my two children 17&19 years ago. I am entering a surrogacy journey now and wanted to see him again. Called the office, no problem. Had a consultation with him, and nothing has changed. He goes the extra mile to make sure everything is good, very attentive, and explains everything in great detail! He even remembered me from so many years ago. That’s a great doctor!!! Look forward to having him through my surrogacy! Thanks Dr.Tankel, you rock!!!

Dr. Tankel is an amazing doctor that takes his role in your health seriously. He is always reading, up on the latest studies, teaching and imparting wisdom to up and coming doctors. Since he is always delivering, there is a good chance that he will be late. I typically call the office before my appointment to find out how behind he is before heading over. He is worth the wait. He is knowledgeable, patient and fun. Dr. Tankel gave us hope when other specialists told us it would be unlikely that I could get pregnant or get to full term. (We have 2 beautiful daughters.) His experience and empathy is what sets him apart and although he is always busy, he never makes you feel like he is in a hurry. And when I was in the hospital, he would be checking on me at 6 am and 9pm, so obviously, he is dedicated to his patients.

Unbelievably rude receptionist. Was told to book a follow up for my girlfriend for 3 weeks after her surgery. The receptionist not only did not let me book, but also told us we were wrong because they never book follow ups for 3 weeks. Said she would call us back but never took my contact info.He has also been incredibly invasive about recommending IUDs and pushing his beliefs on her as I am seeing many similar reviews here experiencing the same problem. My girlfriend wants me there in the appointments with her but is absolutely not allowed. I understand this but if the patient has absolutely no qualms with this, it should be allowed via some form of waiver... I've never been to a provider who so actively denies and ignores patients requests.
