I had a positive experience in April 2020.However in 2021, not so much. I used the quotation platform on their website and built my order. The prices were reasonable and competitive so I submitted at the end of April. I waited over 8 weeks for my order, with occasional promoted updates of next week, etc.Finally order is ready, I discovered upon paying there is a “glitch” with the system and the 5/4 boards are $8 more per board than the quote system. The price was changed in February 2021 apparently. Regardless of my emailed quote form with the lower price, there was absolutely no consideration given. Basically after waiting over 8 weeks, I was given “take it or leave it attitude”. Even though several phone calls and emails were exchanged, there was no mention of the price change.Don’t trust the quoting system. Call/email to verify your order price right away so you don’t wait months to have your budget destroyed.Shop around, I know I will next time.

While working on an adjacent property, Luc drove his equipment through my fence and across my lawn causing thousands of dollars damage. He promised to fix the damage and then never showed up. He cannot be trusted.

Great service and unbeatable price.

When you order milled lumber (ex. tongue and groove), they leave they order outdoors and uncovered.My order of cedar tongue and groove was wet and after a day being in a garage with a fan and a space heater, it was barely able to be assembled. The cedar looked a like it was milled wet: lots of fibres on the tongue making it difficult the assemble.Assembled it looks good. However I've noticed a few boards have decay going right through them, and they won't be and to be used for the full length. We shall see if I have enough wood to finish the job.The attached picture was just before the rain came, so it's not completed.

I've used the quotation tool on the web site, added a few questions, after which I received a confirmation email mentioning that they would contact me shortly with a confirmation of my order. I received a phone call a couple of days later and the person was telling me that the wood was ready asking me when I was going to pick it up. I've tried to explaining that they were suppose to contact me and also answer my questions and he kept on pressuring me into buying the wood. When I told him that I already had bought the wood elsewhere because it took them too long to get back to me, he hung up on me! I am just glad I did not do business with them after all.

Wow. A cedar company that provides good lumber to regular people at reasonable costs, in these covid times. Shout out to Gerry, who was very helpful and funny too. Patrice delivered quickly, was professional, efficient and friendly. All in all a good experience.

DON’T TRUST THEIR QUOTES!!I just had the same experience as Scott described in an earlier review. I was quoted around 600$ on their website in April, the order was confirmed over the phone in early May and again by email in late May. After being told that it would take 4-5 weeks, I ended up waiting 10 weeks only to find out that it was now going to now cost me over $900.They delivered this news as if I was aware of the increase. There was no mention of a glitch until I asked why the price wasn’t the same as they had quoted. They said that their system would sometimes accidentally use 2020 prices however at no point was this ever brought to my attention until it was time to pay.I then asked to speak to the owner and he mentioned nothing about a glitch. He simply said that he raised prices at the end of April. Therefore implying that even though I placed the order before the increase, they chose to ignore my quote and charge the new price without notice.I suppose they just hoped that I’d be willing to a pay the increase since it’s too late to pay less anywhere else. They used the same “take it or leave it” attitude saying that their prices were still cheaper than other lumber yards and that they have the right to increase their prices.Although I understand that they have this right, it should not be acceptable to give someone a low quote, string them along for months and then pressure them to pay 50% more … otherwise pay even more if I they go elsewhere. This is absolutely unethical and I can only imagine how many others are waiting for their order only to be forced to make the same difficult decision. I was luckily in a position where I could cancel my project and refuse the order. Many others already have or will be forced to pay and that shouldn’t be allowed to happen.I’ll never know if it was a glitch or if they just wanted to make as much money as they could. But I know that I will never deal with them again.

Extremely difficult to get through to speak to anyone by phone. Finally drove there to get an answer and the guy was super rude and condescending. He had the order ready the next day, however, all quantities were wrong! Worth the drive to go to the Wood Source instead, that’s where I went to get the remainder of the order I was shorted. I couldn’t bring myself to go back to this place. Spent over 600 dollars and they couldn’t even help load.

Awesome service by Gerry/Jerry. Owner's son helped load. Was careful as if his own vehicle. Price was around 5% more than elsewhere. If ai need wood or know someone that does. I would recommend!!

I placed an order via Ottawa Cedar's website tool. I was very impressed with the ease of it and felt confident I would be dealing with a very professional and efficient organization. I was placing an order for delivery to Toronto (neither the site nor form addressed any shipping boundaries). The company did contact me to ensure that I understood they were located in Ottawa- I confirmed that I was and was willing to pay for shipping if they were willing to ship. They gave me a timeframe of 1-2 weeks for delivery and they would confirm delivery costs. Three weeks have passed, I have made numerous calls and sent a number of messages, promises to have my call returned but I don't hear from them.I spoke to Luc (the owner, I believe) a couple of times and each time he promised to get back to me (didn't happen). The last call I made I did reach him but he wanted to sell me pre-fabricated panels and when I declined, saying I needed the items from my initial order, I didn't hear back (he was quick to follow up and make sure I got the image of the panel, however). So I tried, one last time, to get an answer - we can do it or we won't do it" - but still
