Terrible experience. During my first 2 years (gr6/7), everything was different because of covid, so I assumed it was the normal. But going into grade 8, I realized how terrible this school was.First off, the teacher never gave any of us a tour. I, and many of my classmates, didn't know where to go/anything was until grade 8. The school community felt unwelcoming and new for 2 whole years. This may have been because of covid, as we were separated into cohorts and had been prevented from leaving my own pod(community, group, etc.). I wasn't even allowed to talk kids that weren't in my class, even the ones in the other classes WITHIN my pod. The school also forced us to place traffic cones in front of the washrooms and only allowed 1 person in the washroom at a time. Frustrating, but understandable to this point.

You know, at the end of the day... it's alright. They have really nice helpful people working there and teachers who are very wise in their teachings. As from what I heard, the principal we had 3 years ago was a jerk, but Ms. Ebenal is a kind and understanding lady who will sit and listen to your exposition of your bad day all the way through. The school has some fun things to learn, like cooking and woodwork and digital arts and exciting things along those lines. They do have clubs and groups you can join too.But... there is a fair share of bad things. The outside of the school has garbage lying around and as the building has gotten older, it looks more and more ugly. The playground and what you can do outside in general is underwhelming and restrained.Bullying happens rarely, but kids are constantly swearing and screaming and being total morons 24/7.Some kids are racists or troublemakers.Gossip spreads rapidly, as well as rumors.Sexual activity is highly unlikely, but after school, who knows what goes on behind the scenes.Kids will vape after school, but there has never been a real drug problem. Some teachers flip their lid over small mistakes which makes kids either irritated or afraid. Some teachers will try to shove their opinion down your throat without letting you think about it yourself. Some teachers will push their students harder, but if done with frustation over no improvement as appose to getting mad cause you have a hatred towards the kids, it's a nice learning experience.School bathrooms look like filth 100% of the time. They try to clean them but they will never stop being the local dump.Kids will misbehave in the bathroom. Last year, somebody smeared feces on the bathroom stall in the shape of an S. (NASTY!)Supervisors can be very oppressive. They will be very alert even if you are just on your way to take a wizz. They will question you and question you and it's not a pleasant ride.Halloween is packed with rules.1. No Masks2. No Clowns3. No Weapons (even if its made of paper)4. No PranksChristmas is harmless though. So, that's what I can come up with. There are so many problems with our school, but the good always shines through in the spirit of things. The bad works as a form of upgrading yourself, coming out a changed person.Your child will go through hell and back... but... it's a wake up call. A reminder that hey

Its a fine school, but a lot of problems hold it back, Such as: the bathrooms are disgusting (LIKE SO SO SO DISGUSTING), the students are some of the most discriminatory people ever (but its hard to blame that on the school), etc. There are a few positives, like how the spirit" events are pretty well organized and most people seem to enjoy them. Overall three stars

I went to this school awhile ago, so my experiences may differ from others as I’m not aware if any changes were made since I was there in the mid 2010’s.This school is a decent middle school. there are many pro’s and con’s that come with this school and here’s the ones that I remember when I attendedPROS:- They have some great teachers and staff there, any student can back me up and say that a great teacher really makes a difference and when I went there they had a handful of awesome people, although I know some of them have transferred unfortunately.- The exploration section is also great, I had computer class, art, P.E, drama, home ec, music and tech Ed. So there’s lots of variety.- I would say half the field trips were also very good, going to places like cultus lake, playland, the red centre and many more.CONS:- I really liked the old principal and I had ms Ebanol as my principal for my 8th grade year and most people in my grade including me did not like her, we found her to be scary at times and the worst part… All grade 8’s are supposed to go to play land right? SHE SPENT THAT MONEY ON A BUTTON BLANKET!!! (That’s what everyone’s heard including myself) which infuriated everyone and rightfully so.- When I went there, there seemed to be a massive budget problem, from missing/broken roof tiles that haven’t been fixed in months to me seeing a “wet floor” sign made out of 2 pieces of cardboard stapled together with “wet floor” sharpied onto it. I’m not sure if it’s gotten better now but that’s what I went through.- The teachers also needed to be checked, I had friends in all of the pods (sections of the school) and each pod had teachers doing things so differently. I was in the orcas and I had a couple friends in the thunderbirds, all of them had maybe a couple of pieces of homework a week, while I had around 2-4 A DAY. Now I will say that’s probably because I wasn’t doing too much work in the classroom but I would be trying to read my book as each month we had an assignment on reading a new book and working on it. It was way too much for me to handle especially coming from elementary school where I had no homework.- minor point but looking at the school now, compared to other schools, it’s just simply getting outdated, minnekhada has a new better school, with a better playground, better courts, better pretty much everything right now.Overall my time here was great at times and horrible at times. But when I was with a great teacher it was awesome. I’m not too sure how things are now with this school but this was my experience.

1) There was a few incidences with devices 1 year ago, and STILL no students are allowed phones2) we are supposed to go outside at recess and lunch instead of chilling in are classrooms like we used to for the past 30+ years. And wearing a mask outside is optional, and since everyone in the school is going outside at recess and lunch there will be more people outside therefore less people maintaining social distancing. It would be easier if everyone would just stay in their class and have the option to go outside at recess and lunch, so that your classmates and only your classmates are in your “bubble”

Very poor experience, on four occasions had I walked into to bathroom to find feces smeared on the walls, very unhygienic. At one point in 2021 school staff even removed soap from the eagles boys bathroom. Limited accommodate resources. No rules enforced, fights were not broken up, the teachers are creepy and in home ec the “teacher” would let students eat raw food. Feminine products were in and out of bathrooms, but they would never stay. Rules were outdated and uneducated and school work was expected to almost entirely be done at home. Worst 3 years of my life, go to maple creek/minakheda for a much safer, healthier, more hygienic and overall better experience.

The staff are very 50/50 with some teachers being great and others being really unnecessarily strict. The youth worker there is an absolute W though.

This school is actually so funny, for the end of grade 8, the school took us to lions park. You heard me right lions park with the weather of 33 degrees (in Celsius) My brother who was in grade 5 went to PNE and had a pizza party?? The audacity of this school. We had 7 different stations which were mostly sports (we basically had a gym day there) and the teachers were SO strict about the stations like hello? I don’t want to play basketball or badminton in the weather of 33 degrees? And we were not allowed in the river OR the playground. There were other schools there as well which were preschoolers or kindergarteners. Many students complained and asked the teacher why we were going to a park for a end-field trip but they kept coming with the excuse that ( “we are providing you lunch”) if your gonna provide us lunch at least spend some money for a bus so we don’t have to walk in 33 degrees. And we don’t even have a graduation ceremony whereas my younger brother had a one in their new school. This school is super lazy and does not think of how they had around three hundred kids walking in 33 degrees (the amount of people with sunburns??) Please note that these people are going to high school and are the years of 13 and 14 not preschoolers going to elementary school.
