Masterpiece Southland Meadows

I have been an employee at Masterpiece Southlands for 10 months. I have been a nurse since 18 years of age having worked both acute care and nursing home. I am now 65 and very proud to be an LPN and very proud of Masterpiece and the family of all disciplines that work there. Everyone is welcomed no matter what the circumstances are. Each and every resident is treated with every kindness and professional care possible from all departments. I am ProUD to be a part of this team and proud of our care to all our amazing people. It is a privilege.

Finding a proper care facility for your loved ones is not only a tough decision but a very difficult task. Getting the care they need where they will be happy and comfortable is challenging. Losing our independent life style and accepting that we need to be cared for is not a choice anyone wants to accept. I was really impressed with Masterpiece Southland Meadows owners and staff. Well designed, this facility offers the best care, food, and accommodation. I highly recommend it to anyone faced with finding a comfortable, well managed home for your elderly or infirm loved ones. We want to thank the owners and great staff for helping us make the right choice. I feel at peace knowing they will be well cared for.

As the newest dietitian in the facility I can honestly say that Chef Ray and his staff work very hard to make all the residents happy. Food is so important, and Chef goes above and beyond to provide tasty and healthy choices. Not often do we see fresh fruit regularly served in assisted living facilities, but I do. So lucky to work with a great team of food service staff. Krista and the long term care staff are sensitive to resident needs as well as likes.

EDIT: The petulant president of this business went so far as to post a negative review of another business in the process of having a toddler-like tantrum about this review. This person shouldn't be allowed anywhere near vulnerable populations.This facility is the stuff of horrors. My grandmother was placed here coming out of the hospital and I will do everything in my power to avoid ever seeing anyone I love placed here again. Abysmal doesn’t even begin to describe the level of treatment she received. Food is consistently served cold, and is often inedible. I question if it was even safe to eat since it’s allowed to sit in the danger zone. The menus provided were almost never what was served. The healthcare staff and quality of care are wildly inconsistent. A few nurses were pleasant and competent. Most are indifferent and some are downright cruel. When pain management is critical to a person’s wellbeing, it’s just unconscionable to leave someone in tears for hours on end waiting for meds to be dispensed. The management are completely non-responsive, and constantly trying to find ways to gouge patients’ families for more money. TV and phone charges are excessive. The beds were horribly uncomfortable, and rooms were poorly appointed. This kind of care is not conducive to helping people recover or live their life to its full potential. It’s a effectively a place to warehouse the sick or the elderly.

Masterpiece is an incredible facility that takes a unique and forward-thinking approach to retirement living and care. The staff are constantly improving their respective areas and time is always made to hear and respond to residents and their families. There are so many factors that influence care home operations these days, and I am so impressed with the level of care and response that is taken on a daily basis. Masterpiece truly is a community.

I’ve worked for Masterpiece for over 14 years. Great place to work. Masterpiece Southland Meadows is beautiful, spacious, bright building. The staff and management are great to work for and they are all very supportive. Love coming to work and seeing the residents, they always make me smile and make my day.

I have been on the care side and employee side. My husband was a resident in Masterpiece. The facility is very bright and open, walking in gives you the WoW feel, it doesn’t feel like a care facility. The facility feels like a resort, I have heard comments of a cruise ship.During the time my husband was there his care he received was phenomenal. The nursing, dietary, housekeeping and administrative staff all made my husband’s day enjoyable with smiles, laughs and respect. I visited him everyday, I was always greeted with smiles, from the front desk to all areas of the staff. The staff made our transition very easy. If there was any concerns they were looked after immediately in a professional manner. All the staff builds a close relationship with the residents and families.After my husband’s passing, I was able to join the staff at Masterpiece. I love working in the upbeat atmosphere. As staff, in any area, we enjoy listening to the residents stories and learning their unique personalities. We are family!

I will say out of the jobs I've had in medicine hat, Masterpiece has been the best one yet. I have had some ups and downs as all places do but they always got sorted out. I work with some incredible people all around this building housekeeping,recreation,nurses,kitchen and managers, there all working so well to make these residents feel like there still at home and always treat them with the utmost respect. I would like to thank all the staff at Masterpiece for all that you do and for the compassion you all share for this retirement home. I get the privilege of working with such beautiful, selfless individuals on a daily basis. Every department at Masterpiece give 100% effort everyday to make sure our residents needs are being met. Compassion and teamwork emanate through the building, which makes Masterpiece a wonderful place to work. This is a place where employees and residents are made to feel like family, and the residents are truly made to feel at home.
