Chartwell Harwood Retirement Residence

It took over 4 years for me to convince my mom to move into a retirement home. After looking at several in Ajax we felt that Chartwell was the best choice for her and she tells me on a regular basis how content and happy she is. She has even acknowledged that she wishes she had moved there sooner. She raves about the staff (especially the dining/kitchen staff) and how friendly and kind everyone is there. I can't thank everyone at Chartwell Harwood for making this transition such an easy one for my mom (and myself)! They have activities on a regular basis and my mom is able to choose what she wants to participate in. Some of the activities she enjoys and some she doesn't but I have not heard one complaint from her (which is unusual :) about CH since she moved there in January. A huge thank you to all the staff there for their positive attitudes, patience, kindness and making a wonderful home for my mom!

I have been seeking a home for my aging father and I recently toured this facility: It’s bright and the environment is welcoming. The amenities are plentiful and the staff were helpful answering all my questions and reassuring any anxiety I had over moving through this process. I definitely recommend this facility as an option for anyone who is in our position.

Ann Marie McCabe is the perfect Ambassador for Harwood Place Senior Residence. She is knowledgeable, accommodating, respectful, and so welcoming. Potential residents are made to feel at home from the first step into the building and afterwards she continues to ensure comfort for each person. Her cheerful personality makes each day a happy day. The staff (especially Stephanie) are very friendly and will go above and beyond to make your loved one feel at home. We moved my grandmother in a week ago and she is thriving. She loves having three meals a day, she’s attending many activities, and she’s made some friends. We would definitely recommend for you to send your grandparent to Chartwell Harwood.

Chartwell Harwood is a great place to work, especially if you truly would like to make a difference in the lives of others. Management and staff are extremely supportive of one another and are always available to lend a helping hand. The facility is beautiful and offers many amenities for their residents. At the end of the day, the residents are the people who make working at Chartwell extremely rewarding and enjoyable!

I have been an employee at Chartwell Harwood for the past 9 months. The atmosphere here is amazing as all of the residents are not just neighbors, they are like a big family. The staff are very pleasant and the management are great. I have worked many places throughout my life but I have to say that this has been the most pleasant to wake up to everyday to go to!!! #CHARTWELLstrong

My parents moved into Chartwell Harwood in September of 2019. The transition of leaving their home, of 57 years, into retirement living was made easier by being welcomed by such a caring and thoughtful staff. The facility itself is wonderful with its lovely bistro, games room, outside gardens, exercise room, a wellness center (who assist with any medical concerns) and so much more. My dad loves his daily swim in the heated salt water pool. The staff have been extremely careful during the Covid19 Pandemic, they have done a remarkable job keeping all the residents safe during this challenging time. The best part is I know my parents are safe and they have a community around them that truly cares about their well-being . Lisa and the entire staff are wonderful, our family is grateful for their passion and dedication to the community of Chartwell Harwood.

This location in Ajax is wonderful!Mum & Dad moved here when it first opened and absolutely loved it. The staff and the facilities are great, and all of their needs were looked after.Mum is now on her own with limited sight and the staff have helped more than words can express and we are truly grateful.The facility even has a wonderful doctor on site which has been a huge help recently for Mum.We were so impressed with Harwood Place, that we encouraged another family member to move here and they too are very glad they did.

My parents entered Chartwell Harwood Retirement Home at the height of COVID in 2020 and have been residents there ever since. During the past 2 years of their residency, we have formed wonderful relationships with the home; management & their teams that work there. My father is the primary caregiver & takes great care of my mother who suffers from severe hearing loss, etc., so it takes special people to understand, show & have empathy when interacting with her & we have not been disappointed. My parents have been treated with the utmost respect & care, the team who works at this location are friendly, courteous, kind & caring...this is extremely important to our family. Over the past years of COVID, I have called many times to ask questions or make inquiries & the team has made me feel like I am the only person they are attending to in that moment when I know that they have multiple tasks they're attending with people standing in-front of them at the front desk, in the wellness center or at their office door. Management & their team members have always had an open door (phone) policy. I am personally very pleased with how Chartwell Harwood has dealt with, worked through & so far survived the pandemic. I am very happy with the team that we've had the pleasure of getting to know since my parents entered your facility & I'm also excited to welcome & continue building a relationship with the new management team & employees who have joined the Harwood location. It's very comforting when you know your family member(s) are in capable hands when you cannot be there all the time to care for them yourself. I live by the motto of....You get what you give" and I do believe that as family members

The residence itself is quite nice. The grounds are well kept. Some of the staff over the years have been questionable but that seems to have improved in the last year. Actually the staff now is outstanding. Biggest complaint …..the food is terrible. There is little variety although they show different items on the menu every day or week it’s the same stuff with a different name. The quality is that of a cheap diner. Too bad because they don’t offer a suite without a meal plan. If they did I’d give them a 5 star ⭐️
