Smiths Falls
A former railroad hub, the switching yard is still there, just not the fr8s. Hershey's Chocolates had a huge factory there, and tourists enjoyed the fragrant tours and free samples. The site is now a huge grow-up, run by Canopy Growth. They grow and process a variety of marijuana products there, including cannabis infused chocolate. Fragrant tours are still available, but no free samples.

Almost always have to wait for a freight train here when traveling on Via. The scheduling is often in conflict, you'd think that in the 21 century we could expect better but such is the state of rail transport in Canada.

Fun for all ages. My friend and I who are adults decided to visit the train museum and stay overnight in the Caboose. It was a truly enjoyable event made even more so by the staff. John who gave the tour was so knowledgeable and his stories took us back in time which we really enjoyed. Both Emma and Jane were friendly and accommodating and we enjoyed their enthusiasm. I would recommend the Train Museum to anyone of any age as a interesting way to spend a few hours exploring the trains to an overnight stay in the Caboose as a different and affordable fun event.

this is the old one the new is at 46 Union StreetSmiths Falls, ON but this one is a classic its also CP crew change between montreal and toronto sundays at smiths falls are busy for CP & VIA
