In 2021 I requested a book that they didnt have in stock and asked if I would like to be added to their wait listI appreciated the offer as it is a very classy service to provide in any businessHere we are 2023 and they called with the book! Seriously amazing customer serviceSpeaks so loudly about the level of integrity and attention their customers receive no matter what year it is! Thank you!business that s

This is my go-to place for used books. They have a large selection and staff, especially the manager James are extremely Knowledgeable and helpful. I love that they take wish lists and will notify me if something from my list comes in! The only downside is when it comes to trade-in/buy back. I brought in 7 books yesterday, some of which I know are very popular titles/authors and was only given $14 total, so that’s $2 a book….. seems very low considering I know they’ll price them at $9-$12 re-sale. I’ll probably start selling my books privately instead of bringing them in here since I’m not fairly compensated. It won’t stop me from coming here to buy books though.

I really enjoy stopping in here and checking the shelves as I’ve discovered some wonderful books and authors that are not available in local libraries or are not new enough to be in big chain stores unless you know what your looking for and order it first. And here the older ones are usually very gently used so a great price plus if you take care of your books they will give you credit for them when you bring them back. The only reason I took off one star is they don’t log the specific details of purchase titles and prices so your account and receipts just show book amounts and can be confusing if you order more than one new or especially if you want to return something or get credit for something you should always try to get clarification from whatever staff is helping you even if it takes longer and this would help if you have credit account to know for what exactly in case of discrepancies…

I brought more than ten books to the store this afternoon and told the lady at the counter that I would give those books to them. The lady said that she need to talk to her manager to see if they can take them in. I said it's ok if they don't want them , I can give them to the salvation army thrift store across the street. Those are very good chess books. Then she checked and kept them. She was acting like I was dumping some trash there and even din't say thank you. I was trying to support a small community store although I don't live in the neighborhood. I wish I didn't go there today and I will not.

What an amazingly organized used book store! I can't believe Companion Books offers over 80,000 books on their shelves. Everything is labelled, easy to find and the new management is very committed to providing the best customer service. Check it out, you won't be disappointed. Cat Lovers need to come anyway to visit the in-store-living cat Buddha, the little celebrity of Burnaby.

My first experience today was wonderful! I made an appointment and brought in a bunch of very used books. I got enough back to buy a new book! They only take what they know they can sell, so most of mine weren't usable because of the genre (eg old leadership textbooks), so I just recycled them at the eco center on the way home.Hot tip: they're especially looking for mystery and classics.Big long aisles with lots to enjoy, some real gems! They've got a bookshelf with super discounted books too. A couple chairs for reading. Books arranged by topic/genre. The employees were very helpful, and one (James) recommended me a book which was perfect!I wanted to order in a book, and I was shocked to find out they could do it for cheaper than I could find online!Beautiful journals, some neat kid stuff, relaxed vibe.So thankful to have found this place!

Fantastic little bookshop in Burnaby Heights. The staff are friendly engaging and go out of their way to help you. If you’re looking for s book, they don’t hesitate to try and locate a copy for you. New titles and older books. Really good selection and the store is clean and well maintained.

I just had the opposite experience from the last reviewer. Their site is misleading that they “buy” used books. They told me they only give store credit (ie trade). They didn’t even look at the great condition books I brought in. Also, by appointment only so don’t waste your time if you don’t call first. I even called, but no one was answering. Frustrating service.
