Not what I expected for the price you pay for sushi. Wasn't much taste or flavor to the sush roll and feel like it's over priced

Taka's Sushi
I looked through some reviews before I came here, and someone said Taka sushi is probably better than any sushi place in Richmond or Vancouver downtown. Apparently it was not true.I ordered 7 pics of nigiri, two seared sushi pics, and one fish sashimi. I was thinking I need to try different things first then decide maybe to order a second round. The problem is that the waiting time is too long. I probably sit there for at least 40 mins, and nothing was served. I understand it was Friday night, but there seems to be only two or three waiters in the restaurant.I also asked for water or tea for several times myself, because if you don’t wave your hand to the waiters, they really won’t see.In the end, I wasn’t full at all but I didn’t want to wait to order a second round. But I’m glad I didn’t. Because when I checked out, I realized I have already spent 150 dollar.

Choke hazard warning: Nice looking sushi with overnight frozen rice and damp seaweed sheet wrapped inside which may cause choke hazard even to younger people. The customers were very noisy in the small space. Over rated and over priced, will not dine there again.

Taka's Sushi
Until recently, Taka was undoubtedly one of our favorite Japanese restaurants, a cherished place we frequented often. The fresh and delightful selection of sushi and sashimi was simply unparalleled, leaving us with a memorable culinary experience each time. However, as of late, we have noticed a slight shift in the dynamics of the restaurant. The prices of some of their signature fish dishes seem to have soared, making the overall dining experience somewhat costlier than before. With this, we find ourselves contemplating our orders more carefully, opting for more budget-friendly options and occasionally compromising on our usual indulgences. Moreover, the growing popularity of aburi-style sushi in many other establishments has taken a toll on Taka's clientele. While the allure of perfectly seared fish and the play of flavors has captivated many, it has also led us and others to explore these alternative sushi spots, drawing us away from our once-beloved haunt.Another factor that has subtly impacted our preference for Taka is the noticeable decrease in available seating. Previously, securing a table was relatively hassle-free, but now it seems like a challenge. Perhaps the combination of loyal patrons and the restaurant's modest space has led to this spatial constraint, affecting the overall comfort and convenience of dining there.Nonetheless, despite these recent changes, Taka remains a place with fond memories, and we might still return for special occasions or when we crave the unique flavors that only they can offer. Yet, for now, we find ourselves exploring other Japanese eateries in search of new culinary delights and dining experiences.

They do not have high chair, so if you bring children be aware of that. They only have limited space, so go there when they right open if you want to sit by a table. The food is quite expensive but the taste is not bad. The best one is the seared sushi, highly recommend.

Really high quality sushi here. We got 4 rolls: Taka's Fire, spicy tuna, spicy scallop, and poached salmon. They were really good and the freshness and flavor of the fish and scallops really shined through even with the sauces.I also tried the salmon nigiri and it was amazing. It comes with soy sauce brushed on so no soy sauce dipping is needed. The salmon tasted so fresh and clean. The only one I probably won't order again is the poached salmon. While the taste was fine, the texture reminded me of canned tuna which to me isn't ideal for a sushi roll.It looks like they're know for their aburi so I'll have to come back and try that.

Taka's Sushi
The food here is absolutely AMAZING! As someone who lived in Japan for four years, this sushi definitely reminded me of my time there. I highly recommend this place. Only downside is that it’s slightly pricey, but you definitely pay for the quality and in my opinion it is worth it.

Taka's Sushi
Food is fresh with good quality, servers always provide decent recommendations base on their special menu and what’s best at the season. Probably the best sashimi I’ve ever had in great Vancouver area.

Taka's Sushi
Very fresh sushi with a team of professionals creating the experience! We had fresh pieces and a number of roles.Docked a point because it has very limited seating and although warm welcoming and prompt, I would have liked to see a bit more follow through with diner experience. Thanks for the lovely meal, Taka’s!

Food was pretty good (not stellar at price point but surprised to get level of freshness and variety in White Rock)BEWARE of chef recommendation without disclosure of market price (should have known better w hard sell). Midway through meal was told that there was a uni from Japan that I should try...see photo of two peice uni nigiri (did look amazing and was smaller than usual West Coast uni) - but to my horror when I paid the bill, was charged close to $60 for the two peices alone...also after ordering bluefin toro on the menu, was told that they only sell aged" version at the moment and that it would cost 30% more and that it would taste much better because it had been aged for 9 days
