I have been going to Kodokan for over a year now as a complete novice beginner in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Even as a petite female it doesn’t feel overwhelming thanks to the open and friendly environment Professor Randy, Walton, BJ, and Julius create, their passion for the art is contagious! Location is highly accessible just off Deerfoot and Centre Street or Nose Creek Trail if you’re on bicycle. 5/5 would recommend!

Been training at Kodokan for the past couple years. Its been one of the best things i've ever done in my life. Training Jiu Jitsu with professor Randy, Walton and the rest of the black belt team has been so damn amazing! The atmosphere is welcoming, the pace of instruction is for all belt levels and most importantly the friendships i've developed have really added so much value to my life. I wish i could rate Kodokan more than 5 stars!

Top notch instruction that's meticulous and detailed (many black belts with different styles that teach classes) . Safe and clean training environment. Tight knit group but welcoming to everyone enthusiastic to train. This trickles onto their competitive spirit and their growing championship accolades. Their positive relationships with many gyms allow you to drop in to other gyms and expand your training partners. Overall well managed and the owners are some of the coolest fellas you'll get to know.

I train outta 101 which is GFT affiliate, professor BJ was kind enough to let me join for open mat and I had a great time, everyone was extremely nice the gym is super clean and the rolls were challenging. I hope to be back soon and often. Keep on rocking!

Kodokan YYC has a welcoming atmosphere and very technical instruction. There are a great variety of training partners from white to black belt, both competitors and hobbyists. Professors Randy and Walton are excellent instructors whether you are completely new to martial arts or have been training for years.

One of the most inviting Brazilian jiu-jitsu gyms I have had the pleasure of visiting. Randy and Walton Chung, together, possess vast amounts of knowledge and humility that make your Kodokan YYC experience one to remember. There is no shortage of solidarity at this gym, and if you're looking for a place of common ground to learn, roll, and get into shape, all while learning and laughing with great individuals, then I would highly recommend checking out Kodokan YYC.

Our daughters have been with the Club for 6 months - we've had an amazing experience with the Professors, Coaches and other staff members. The girls have really gained confidence in ability as well as interaction with other members. I plan to join eventually when my back is healed as well! Would highly recommend this place.

Absolutely fabulous club. I'm visiting from Ontario. The owner, staff, and training partners are so welcoming and friendly. I've been doing bjj for 9 years and if your looking for a place to start this is where I would want to be. They care about the students and it shows. Great for beginners and seasoned bjj athletes. Very clean. Nice open space. Easy to get to. Can't wait to visit again.
