Alberta King Of Subs

Was looking forward to the poutine so much. It was watery, the cheese was a bit light, the gravy was so watery and flavourless. The fries on the other hand weren't bad. But I don't think I'd ever order a poutine from here again.As for the Sub, I got The Knight Sub. I enjoyed the lightly crispy bread, the seasonings and the meat.. I thought it was pretty good and it did hit the spot. If I was in the mood and in the area I would come back.The gentleman at the front counter was polite and threw in some free 2 bite brownies so 3 that improved the experience.

The king is dead! This used to be the best place to get a true Montreal experience. Smoked meat, poutine, steamies, Mike's subs". I tried it today after a long hiatus ( I had ordered a smoked meat sandwich and they microwaved the meat......) so I tried a sub today and wasn't expecting much after I noticed the sign (in the included picture) "No refunds" Yikes! The subs used to be huge and delicious not the case anymore small and terrible I think it was canned meat and processed cheese slices. I can't get my hopes up anymore I won't be returning."

This place that is absolutely so fantastic the food is prepared precisely. It is packed full of gravy curds and anything else you can imagine the fries are well done not over soggy cooked fresh right on the spot and the pickles that we had the deep fried pickles were absolutely fantastic with a brilliant crunch you could really feel the taste popping in your mouth I would absolutely recommend this place to anybody who wants to try great cooked food. The store manager or person who had served us was absolutely fantastic very kind and even gave my daughter an extra dessert for free really nice guy great place

The service was very good but the quality and quantity of food vs dollars spent was not on par. Smoked meat sandwich was decent but pricey and the poutine wasn't up to par for us with the fires or the gravy (we maybe spoiled though).All and all a reasonable experience, but unless we're going out with someone who insists on King of Subs we likely won't rush back.

We Moved back to Calgary last year ( my husband has lived in Montreal his whole life) This is the best smoked meat place we found so far. Good quality smoked meat and homemade fries. A little pricey but worth it. We love the Montreal pictures on the walls. ❤️

We both had Queens platter, we were very disappointed. The fries and sandwiches were cold and the bread seemed stale. There was hardly any meat in the sandwich for an original smoked meat style sandwich. The pickle comes in plastic... The taste was not good the texture of the skin was strange I could not eat it. The coleslaw is also different it used to be good☺️ That's just the food part. The service was ok. The facility was a little dirty around the baseboard noticeably and ceiling tiles falling down. Both restrooms were out of service.We used to eat here on a regular basis and feel it must be under new management. The amount of food is less than it used to be.√ we will not be visiting this business in the future.

This used to be my go to place for smoked meat poutine because of the thick home style fries, authentic dark gravy, huge pieces of smoked meat and real cheese curds.I drove in from out of town for this and I can’t believe I wasted my time & money. The watery gravy went from a slow cooker pot into a Tupperware dish that was microwaved onto fries that were less than appealing. I’m not sure if the cheese curds were real and the smoked beef went from 1 inch cubes to gerbil sized pieces of meat. This will be my last time that I come here.

THE KING IS TRULY DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NEVER going here again! Was good at one time.I live in the area and went there quite often but have not been there for a while.1. Very minimal parking now since the gas station nextdoor is now a U-Haul truck depot taking up a lot of theparking.2. Place was totally empty which should have been my firsthint.3. No one at the counter when I walked in.Looked at the menu and was astounded at the prices.I was there so I thought I would order a Queen Smoked Meatsandwich and bottle of water.Paid for it. The counter person was very rude and curt to startwith.4.Sat down at a table and waited for over 10 minutes withno sandwich or attendant in sight but I heard him gabbingon the phone the entire time in a back room.5. I stood up and he appeared with my tiny $17.05 sandwichan two very thin pickle slices. A bottle of water was includedin that $17.05. He was still talking on his cell phone.6. I swear the entire sandwich amounted to 4 small bites. OMG7. Another lady walked in after me and after waiting 10 minutesjust walked out in frustration and made a comment to therude counter person that she was never coming back andwould post a review about her experience.The rude attendant then yelled at her saying to never comeback.In summary, this place was a decent place years agoBUT NOT ANYMORE.Insane pricing for miniscule portions, rude staff and littleif any parking.Also, the tastes of the smoked meat was much better in the past.In the past all the meat was right out front and you watched theperson make the sandwich.NOW, it is all done in a back room so who knows what theyprepare or how it is prepared.It was way better in the past BUT IS NOW JUST A RIP OFF!!!At this rate, they will not be in business much longer.Sad.
