BELFOR Property Restoration

I ended up with 8 inches of water in my basement rec room after the ice storm. My sump pump failed after the electricity went out.Belfor was sent by my insurance company to remediate. Belfor explained the process and sent out the first team to dry out my basement and box up items and store them then ripped up the vinyl plank flooring and left huge fans to dry out the floor and stairs.Response to the flood was slow but I knew there were hundreds in the same boat or worse.Their positive response ended here. I had trouble getting in touch with the project manager. I still smelled a dank smell and a crew came out and they claimed I smelled the disinfectant. But they sprayed again.They then informed insurance of the remediation plans with a copy to me. I was shocked at the plans which were minimal simply replacing the flooring and the baseboard That didn’t make sense as they didn’t check if there was any mold behind the drywall except in one small area in a closet . I didn’t like it so I called another small firm and they found extensive black mold to the point that they had to create a zone to disinfect the area.I know there was an overwhelming demand after the storm for restoration but their initial work was sloppy and quick and if I didn’t ask questions and hired another firm I would be living with toxic airWe must do our own due diligence.

My property was hit by a tornado July 2019 (this is March 25th 2020).My insurance company chose Belfor as their preferred company. After reading these Google reviews I expressed reservations to the insurance company. I was told to try them out and if I did not like the quality of the work I could change to another company.Long story short, Belfor showed up, walked around, took photos of damage and left. The person who showed up was very professional, polite and knowledgeable. Several weeks later the insurance company informed me that they had still not received photos or a report from Belfor.Then we had a large storm and my roof leaked, contacted the insurance company, was told to call Belfor to have them inspect. Belfor comes inspects, no repairs performed, no mention of any cost.I then inspect the roof myself and repair the leak.So here we are in the middle of the Covid-19 outbreak (7 months later) and I receive an invoice from Belfor for over $300 for the roof inspection. Not for the repair that I made, but for an inspection.I have reached out to the insurance company to inquire if they have already paid Belfor for this service. Waiting for them to investigate.I can't comment on the quality of the work that Belfor provides because they did not perform any work at my property. However the $300 invoice sure looks pretty.

Our home garage door was destroyed during an auto theft. Belfor service immediately secured the doorway; quickly assessed the damage; consulted with us on the replacement; and had the door replaced properly as soon as a replacement was available.

Very disappointed in their customer services. They do not respond to emails, they don’t even tell if they are capable of providing a service or not. Wasted several weeks just to get a simple “yes” or “no”.

Belfor in Ottawa was recommended by my insurance company so I contacted them to do a house damage assessment... 5 times. I know that sounds rediculous on my part but they really sounded professional during the first call. After that it was excuses, messages and their phone system wasn't working". My issues were not urgent but I needed a quote to pursue the claim with my insurance company. Three weeks after my initial contact they send someone to evaluate the repairs I needed. He was timely and polite. More than three weeks later I have heard nothing from them. No follow-up

As a result of extensive indoor damage caused by a frozen pipe that burst in our kitchen, our insurance company referred us to Balfor Restoration. Despite a significant work backlog owing to high volumes of burst pipe-related claims in early February, Balfor arrived at our house within 2 business days. The emergency repair work was performed exactly one week later; while we had some concerns that the removal of kitchen cabinetry and granite countertops would be problematic, it was performed without incident; and after the hardwood flooring was replaced several weeks later, the Balfor team went out of their way to protect the newly finished floor and did a top-notch job of re-installing (including caulking) all of the cabinetry (no small feat). But what impressed us the most was the Balfor project manager Terrik who performed the initial on-site assessment and subsequently was our primary contact throughout the project. It was clear to us that Terrik had our best interests at heart, and he made himself available for short calls several times per week so we always knew what was going on. And whenever an issue did arise, Terrik was always up-front / honest in his communications with us, which was highly appreciated. Terrik went above and beyond our expectations, and made our overall experience with Balfor highly positive.

Belfor is the most professional organization I had encounter in a long time, every single employee was top notch and best in class! No surprise and great communication, would recommend them to anyone experiencing a home disaster!

Have waited for a couple of months to get a response about a target date for work to commence. As of this writing, still waiting.

Nearly caused an accident by cutting me off on the highway today at 4:30 headed eastbound by IKEA and then nearly hit another car swerving between cars.

The service is not organized well and communication is very inefficient. They only considered their interest and contract, and not consider customer's difficulties. They demand whatever they want only without further communications and discussions. As the owner of a condo impacted by fire damage, I got the first email asking one week limit to move everything out from Belfor Ottawa property manager. I replied asking more time on this because of various difficulties during the COVID-19 period. The property manager replied with No. I then sent him the second email asking for extensions and suggestions, meantime overcome many difficulties to meet his request. The property manager didn't reply my second email anymore. The moving company guy came to the site on time in the morning. However the property manager, who locked the damaged house, forgot about all of this, claiming afterwards that I didn't confirm with him about the date, which was requested by him in his first email. It ended up with I have to pay the moving company half hour without moving anything. The property manager insisted that it's my fault.
