Read a lot on forums about how they supposedly trespassed on private property and tampered with samples of graphite in Quebec. There were even pictures of the group on the property. As a Canadian citizen, I cannot support this kind of action taken by a non for profit organization. While I am happy to hear that MiningWatch supports clean energy, and I am completely on board with them when it comes to shutting down mines that contribute to global climate change, I believe they are having trouble understanding that one needs to mine resources to develop the likes of solar panels, wind turbines and nuclear reactors. For example, you need silicon for solar panels, neodymium for wind turbines and graphite for nuclear reactors. However, I am quite perplexed to hear that they do not support the very small Miller graphite mine in Qc. This mine has ultra pure graphite that is designated to develop Small Modular Nuclear reactors in remote parts of Canada to limit the burning of fossil fuels. If they do not support this mine, how are we going to get anywhere with renewable energy? Simply put, you can't get something out of nothing. Perhaps they can give us concrete answers on a work around but I have yet to hear anything on their end about the Miller site.

I can't support any organization that has to resort to illegal tactics to try to make their point or as a publicity stunt.

It is a great website to learn about most of the threats that are caused by mining.

MiningWatch Canada's 20th Anniversary celebration and international conference was organized so well by the staff and with so many participating speakers, Indigenous and non-Indigenous community advocates, academia, community-based researchers, government representatives, scientists, engineers, climate change and policy think tanks, etc. So pleased to have been part of this!! Turning Down the Heat: Can We Mine Our Way Out of the Climate Crisis?" definitely opened up my mind
